I wonder just how many people are looking in.
Perhaps they would care to join us. This could include moderators aces wizards or lurkers. Perhaps they would say why/how the picked the message up.
I assume that you have my agreement to use your space as an experiment.

We've never met.
1-I am an 84 year old male from North Lincolshire.
2-I am married with 2 sons.

Point 1 would be obvious if you could see me in real life.

You can tell how old I am when I ask my agreement to use your space.

Let's not get carried though and concentrate on what linked us together.
1 - You are quite happy to put your location as Western America. A big country.
2 - You keep your age to yourself and your marital status.
I could assume from the fact that you have three children that you are married. It also goes some way towards a guess at your age.
A quick look at the 'front page' of your personal space helps little towards your age. A lot of fish and an indication of social responsibility.
You have already taken it that my wife is alive (I have passed the and on to her.)
It is our Diamond Wedding next year.

I've just had a quick look at your space with the intention of pinning down your location a bit more accurately and instantly found the reason why you picked up on the matter of personal space.

The whole game of lurking to learn is quite fun but on the three occasions that I have crossed swords with the moderators, it has been as a result of doing just that.
With the old BBC site you could cross over to other sites and my attempts to link people together and get them to come over to h2g2 got me into serious 'virtual' bother

well, yes i suppose you could be married and your wife no longer 'with us'
but usually folks say widowed or something

no i am not married... if i was i would say so... but then how would you know that
i am old enuf to have 3 grown children and some grandkids

quite a long time ago i came to the oh no rude realization that
anyone i was talking to on the internet
could be someone entirely different from who they said they were...

and not because most folks are good at that kind of roleplaying
so much
but because some ARE
and we really dont know who is

so i keep it all pretty impersonal

nothing personal

now, this site and its meets clears up that problem
for those who go to the meets (with their admitted screen name/s)

but most of us cant go to the meets
for various reasons
and anyway, i have had such bad experiences on here...
like starting in the first week i signed on
that i really couldnt trust anyone enuf to meet them in real life anyway

so anyway...
what i am getting at is why i am rather vague about who i am
just enuf facts to set the stage per se

yeah i can see what a bummer that must have been for you

how easy to forget that some folks
