Just Signed On
The Basics: My name is Susan and I am writing from State College, Pennsylvania 1 in the USA. One of the books on my volumious reading list 2 is Salmon of Doubt, and after several years I have finally started it. I just had to see if DNA's apparently favorite site was still up and running. Probably the most interesting thing about me is that I own Newfoundland dogs,3 three of them at the moment4 to be precise, but I have had Newfs since 1986. I also have two garden variety housecats.5 All the pets I have owned have been named after characters in books or shows, mostly sci-fi. The Newfs that have gone to that great squirrel chase in the sky, or with Newfs actually more likely that great air-conditioned swimming pool in the sky were, Thanatos, Angelina, Haley,6 and Killashandra. The current newfs are Jubal, Tasha and Lyekka. Previous cats were Frodo and diGriz. Anyone that is puzzled over which books/show just give a holler. The current cats are Zaphod and Beeblebox, a no brainer where that is from. I work in a science laboratory and have a very wide area of interests so I think this site will be fun. That's about it, for now.1Home of Penn State Univeristy.2 Total number on list at the moment is 130.3 Big, big dogs usually black but can be black and white, brown or grey.4 I have promised that my absolute limit is four Newfs at any one time.5One DSH male and one DLH female.6Actually Haley was four years old when we got her and already named.
