NaJoPoMo 3 Mags - Gaming, but not as we know it...
Posted Nov 3, 2013
Gears 2 arrived today, so played that for a bit. No Retro Lancer (they didn't arrive 'til 3) and no 'strange gun' (no idea what it was called) that you could have 780 bullets for either. Need to find new best friend (after the Lancer, natch ).
DA Boyz came tonight.
One of them has got a Final Fantasy VII emulator on his laptop. Claims he can finish it in 25 gameplay hours.
Well, he probably could if he accesses all the cheats - which can fully upgrade all his characters without having to 'grind', not bother trying to get all the items to make the summon materia or even try an find some of the best summons and 'reset' Sephiroth to virtually no hit points (possibly).
Gah!
How did it come to this?
I played the game on the Playstation for 150 hours. That very same son 'overwrote' it with his own, 30 min game save, so I had to start again. I decided to get *everything* all Summons, all playable Characters - Yufi and Vincent were ones that you you could 'miss'. I think when Sephiroth drew his last breathe and everyone who had died was able to 'return to the planet', I'd spent the best part of 250 gameplay hours on it.
The youth of today, no staying power.
In other news, you've gotta feel sorry for Norwich. Poor buggars. Their bums were thoroughly chewed yesterday by the boys in blue. 7-nil.
Gonna play some Worms today. I hope the one we're playing has the 'Inflatable Scouser' in it

NaJoPoMo day two Mags

We did it!
We killed RAAM. On insane difficulty. Cheevos were popping all over the place (Player two didn't get that far before). Mucho happy bunny. Only took us 8 tries as well. Eventually, the daft buggar just stood there and let us frag him and headshot him. Yay. We just need to play it through on wimp to get the last few bits (COG tags, mainly)
On to Army of Two.
This is another game that was being played years ago with K (my son) and he lost interest. So, while we wait for Gears 2 to arrive (Yes. I *know* I do have the Limited Edition, but the game disc is scratched and I don't have a Blockbuster anymore to clean and scrape 'em for me) We can only play it on wimp or normal, so we're going for normal. I keeping pressing the wrong buttons. 'Y' to slide into cover? When do you actually need to use that button in a shooter? Harumph. No sticky cover? 'nother Harumph. We did it!

I'll have that and then some .
Freebie of the week?
The World of Geflings - well, it's free and you *do* get to see some lovely Ilomilo characters to kick about

NaJoPoMo - Mags
Posted Nov 1, 2013
Those of you that (sort of) know me are aware that I play a *lot* of games. Console games, Farcebook Games, board games (occasionally)
So what am I doing today?
Trying to kill RAAM on insane in Gears of War. The first one.
I don't usually go for the hardest setting on games, I'm more of a casual player, but when I had to change rental game supplier one of the first games we got was Gears of War - Judgement. I'd tried playing the third game with my youngest son, but he soon lost interest, because I was bascially *rubbish* at it and kept dying and he just steams in and was too far away from me to revive me. Judgement was played with the ever patient hubby. We started it on normal, like yer do, and I really rather enjoyed it. So after we'd finished we tried Insane difficulty. The beauty of that was that *I* could play the game on casual (easy peasy, beginner) and hubby could play on Insane (he couldn't get downed *at all*). Finished it, 1000g'd it The only problem was that there was an 'add-on' and in order to play that I had to finish 3 with my son (so we could follow the story) we managed it quite happily, mind, even though it had been over a year since we last played it, and the whole 'hubby on insane, Mags on casua'l could begin again.
Major problem with the first one is that you can't do that. *Both* of you have to play on insane and RAAM is really, really *really* hard.
I've totally lost count of the number of times I've stood waiting for the ammo crates to reappear after we've restarted.
Army of Two is calling me...
