I'm in the UK, but I thought we couldn't learn to drive till 17. Odd, nevermind, I won't have enough time this year to learn to drive, even if I could. And I want to learn to ride a first, but my mum won't help pay for my driving test if its a bike test.

Yea 17 it is - wires crossed
You dont have to get a car to get a lisense-its an important bit of paper-you might get given a vehicle to drive for work-and you got more room a=plus a heater in the winter and even a radio/cd player-your girlfriend wont get wet-if its raining-and you can fit all the shopping in at the end of the week.
bikes sound fun though

Well you could get a moped now Pingu
Providing you took your CBT had had bike provision on you license.
Full Direct Access for bikes (to ride any size) costs over £500 so even if yer mum were prepared to pay I doubt she would for that amount! You can't do the DAS (direct access) until you are 21.
The 'normal' test restricts you to 33bhp for 2 years. If you hit 21 within those 2 yrs you can take the DAS and get a bigger bike.
But don't worry, I had the sort of the same thing. Refusal to pay for bike tests and only agreed to pay for car test if I paid for half. Which, as I was on about £30 a week at the time just wasn't an option.
My lessons and test cost me the grand total of 60 quid I think, just to rub it in!
Just make sure you get the provisional license with M/C entitlement

Thanks Lofty.
Well that is all my exams over for the minute. Physics was easy with only about two question where I think that I dropped marks. Biology and Chemistry I found very easy though. Hopefully the marks will be ok and then I can go on to do A levels.

Thats a good plan i think-picking something you really want to do: is important(just as long as they wanna pay you for doing it).
If you have a spare 5 minutes this is fun ( only 4 or 5 mg download [click on the little square icon that says "get continuum"])
