The official definition of expert is the person (in the court) who knows most (a huge amount) about a subject. We're just getting a new kitchen fitted and have had two designers round. Its a tiny space with very little room for differences. But both experts have come up with very different plans. How do you know who to believe?

Proms

Maxim Vengerov, who we last saw at the Barbican, and his magical violin, was playing at the Proms on Sunday afternoon.
We went for a walk afterwards, on the canal path near our London, Primrose Hill flat, to revel in what we'd heard.
The canal path was being pulled up for reconstruction, but a canal boat was there waiting to give us a free trip where we could have walked.
Another bonus to a glorious day.

Went flying

What I am looking forward to is reporting I've gone solo - for the second time of course. I did that first well over 30 years ago. But not yet. Too much to learn including being patient. But I so enjoy my Thursday flight.

Eclipse

I don't mean in anyway to appear anti British or European for that matter. But from all I've heard about today's eclipse the most magical part is the silence that can almost be felt -birds stop singing, animals lie down, as the natural world holds its breath as it has for millennium past And the next eclipse is in Southern Africa….
