Cycling into tomorrow
Posted Apr 29, 1999
Up early and on my way to town - cycling through the parks and side streets of the big city London. Into the funky old building in ever changing Covent Garden, to climb the stairs, byepassing the old fashioned caged lift, and straight to my desk.
Where I'm in touch with the world.
Everywhere there are people to meet. In the office. On the phone. Via the net.
And now via h2g2. Where tomorrow has come.

Patience

The site is live. To everyone some many well dones. Never thought we'd get here whilst always knowing we would. The difference between "it'll happen" and "it has" is so enormous. I've always found that: "What happens if I die before I get my driving licence?" I remember thinking nearly forty years ago when driving was all that mattered. And on some days driving seemed all that mattered only 4 years ago when I drove from London to New York - via Siberia. But I am now aware that patience is the key indicator of real confidence. And confidence is what distinguishes one human from another. Everything is in the mind they say. Patience certainly is.

Getting unconfused

This is being added as a journal entry. Putting on my "pretend I'm coming to the site for the first time hat" I'm not sure of the difference between adding a journal and adding a page.
And, knowing its around somewhere, putting things on my blotter

Another test - a muse this time. We all stretch back into our pasts when searching for hints about the future. We all have many pasts. One of mine was television. Television documentaries. I worked in documentaries for 30 years. For 17, I was a boss - commissioning, overseeing, sharing the glory and taking the blame. And for all that time I was convinced that television was the wrong harbour for what we called the documentary programme. I'd love to debate that. In the meantime I am searching for a say of moving them, well some of them, over to the net.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
