Okay, now for my next visitor...

Dearest Vice-Mistress Kat,
just wondering, but does that mean you are the secondary mistress, or the mistress of vice?! smiley - evilgrin
Anyway, I do want to work. I sit around, or more accurately, lie around, all day long, and my mind is not used to that. I need to be challenged. I like mental stimulation. My own personal motto that I (used to) live by was: "The day you stop learning is the day you die." Maybe that is one of the reasons I'm so depressed- I can't find, or get the work that would fulfill me the most, and I fear at the ripe old age of 30 that my time to do so is running out. Silly, I know.
In fact, I'm reading a book right now entitled, "Midlife Crisis at 30". It has really opened up my eyes. It talks about how my generation of women was raised to believe that we could accomplish anything if we just put our minds to it. All well and good, if we lived in a perfect world. But as you well know, we don't. So the book is about dealing with having a midlife crisis at the tender age of 30.
Excellent book, I highly recommend it to any woman age 25 to 45.

What I'm thinking of doing, is if I do get on disability, using that time to go back to school, getting a teacher's certification, a degree maybe. With the health benefits from the disability, I should be able to get some help with both my back and my depression. Should.
I'm glad you're not letting your psych tell you what to do or how to live, and are trying to get on with your own life. Have you decided about going back to school, or thought about it?
I'm glad you're here. No need to apologize for rambling.
"Not all who wander are lost."
I have wanted to be a writer ever since I can remember, and my favorite authors are those normal people condemn for being to wordy. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "The greatest talent is to not use two words when only one will do."
Personally, I say, "I never use big words when a miniscule one will do."

No fair sneaking signing on when I'm not looking!
Back's okay, but last night when I got off, had to use a heating pad to get to sleep, and I haven't been that bad in weeks! So tonight, I'm staying on only until 1:30, 1:45 at the latest!smiley - winkeye

How are your holiday plans going? Got everything done? Only one day left! Actually, at this time, it only 23 hours until Christmas officially arrives.

Wait a second, how did I get elected Madam Chair? I don't even remember running!!
Hey, about what you said last night, about Canada having been idealized in Bowling for Columbine, I know every country has problems. They have to. We live in an imperfect world. But sometimes I feel like the US is just so full of itself, you know?
How does Canada treat Jehovah's Witnesses?
You know, in Russia, they're banned, and shipped to Siberia, just for having a faith! In France, they're banned, and constantly being persecuted for their faith. I don't think highly of countries that tout "religious freedom" and then persecute anyone, whether Christian or pagan.

Oh, sorry Zantic, didn't see you there in the wings! smiley - winkeyesmiley - winkeye Small dragon joke for ya!

The book "Midlife Crisis at 30" was written by Lia Macko and Kerry Rubin. Two very intelligent women who went thru their own midlife crisis before writing what very may well be a generation defining book.

Hey, I could so work for a publishing company, putting blurbs on book jackets! Nah, who'd hire someone like me, with a penchant for running off at the mouth?.......smiley - biggrin

Zantic - Who is this woman??

I thought that was what the blurb on book jackets was all about! I'm sure you'd do it wonderfully - at least no less so than the people who do it at the moment! Along with those who put the out-takes from reviews on the re-pronts. How many books have you seen witht he following blurb

"...enticing..."
"..a masterpiece..."
"..the most amazing book since..."
Or more recently
"...the new tolkein.." smiley - grr

I've given up on these as an indication of how good a book is. they generally lie.

My favorite is,
"I haven't read a book this good since....."
Who cares? You are obviously a literate monkey who can't find his local library!
Nah, I'd rather write the actual books.
I've got about 10 books I'm working on right now. I know, how can I work on so many at once? What can I say- I have a great long attention span. I can start a book, then halfway thru, stop, leave it for a month or two, then come back and finish reading it.
I'm the only person I know who saw ALL the clues in "The Sixth Sense" about Bruce Willis. If you haven't seen it, I won't give it away.

Ok ok, not Forcing you...the opening is there, I thought you'd be an ec=xccellent candidate, that's all. smiley - smiley

That's true, it Certainly is an imperfect world! Actually I think most of us (Canadian society, specifically non-Witnesses) essentially ignore them. I have heard negative rumblings & grumblings ie being wuken up at 8am after being out all night, for what?...a smiley - bleeping Sermon!...But I think they're pretty much left alone.

We sometimes ignore what we've got...or at least don't always acknowledge it, I guess.

Oh, dear....
I've gone and done it again.
I must leave you now, and try to get some rest. I'm afraid I already know I will have to use the heating pad again tonight.
Ah well, it was worth it.

Goodnight, Jaz. Talk to you soon. Have a good holiday, if I don't hear from you before Christmas is over. smiley - cheers

Fare thee well, Zantic. Hope to hear more from you soon. Have you ever read Anne McCaffrey?

No, no, must go to bed! Sorry, will talk to you later.

G'Night, all! Sleep well, rest, dream, and wake filled with peace, joy, love, and happiness!

Zantic - Who is this woman??

I think my parents local JW's are wonderful. My Maths teacher at school was married to the local vicar and told us this tale of woe:

the JW's turned up at the manse (vicars house, comes with the job. Situated in this case in the GROUNDS of the church. You know, big building with spire and official notices outside and things like that) and asked if he had opened his mind to god. Ahem.
You have to feel sorry for them. They got invited in (a shock in that area) and managed to finally escape after three hours. He apparently took each of their points and turned it round also using much reference to the good book.

Kind of makes me think of statistics - you can use them to prove anything.

Zantic - Who is this woman??

Anne McCaffery was my life-line for most of my teenage-hood I'm afraid to say. Given up on her a bit now. Haven't read any of her stuff for a few years. Mercedes Lackey has supplanted her of late, though I'm currently plowing through David Gemmel and the Heinlein again.

Have a good, long and restful sleep Cali. Much love and hugs (of the most careful and back relieving kind)

Oh dear! I wonder how often I’m writing stuff no one understands!!! If it hadn’t been for Katkat teasing me for my “tutelage-put-thingy” I would have never found out that I’m talking smiley - sillysmiley - weirdsmiley - alesmiley - somersault again!

What I was trying to say… they behave as if you weren’t able to think and make decisions on your own. That there has to be some guardian who decides what’s good for you, and how much you’re allowed to know, as in this case, about your health.

I can’t get rid of the feeling that I turn all threads I’ve subscribed to either into grammar-discussions, or into conversations about Christmas! smiley - blush
