The behaviour of Stuff
Stuff Happens - The phenomenon called 'stuff!'
Some stuff about stuff!When did stuff first happen
'Stuff' has been around for longer than most people can remember, or even imagine. A lot of stuff has gone unnoticed or been lost over time. But from the stuff we do know, there is a lot of stuff which is still worth finding out about.Old Stuff
There is a lot of stuff around, with more stuff coming into regular usage each day. While there are experts that are always trying to make stuff less confusing and easier to use, useful stuff also gets outdated, or loses its appeal. Therefore, inevidably, a lot of stuff is thrown away or goes missing (sometimes due to the long held tradition of forgetfulness of the whereabouts of stuff). There are researchers who collect and buy old stuff. Some of them dig large holes in the ground where a lot of old stuff can be found, so that they can do research. These dedicated researchers are known as stuffaeologists. They like to make up intellectual stuff about stuff from the stuff that they have found. This has become known as the "stuff of knowledge". Stuffaeologists will often use this intellectual knowledge to try to proove stuff to normal people. Normal people, not having had the years of experience and contact with old stuff the way the stuffaeologists have, usually can't understand a word they say.Some stuff known about stuff
- Stuff can be found practically everywhere.
Stuff can happen unexpectedly, when unwanted, or in such a way as to make you an instant millionare.
However this last phenomenon usually occurs to someone you know, rather than to you yourself.
Stuff can make you tired (Eg, "I'm stuffed")
Stuff is doable, but often isn't.
Stuff can be lost.
Stuff can mysteriously dissapear in front of the eyes of any male, but magically reappears upon the direction of any nearby female (who have the ability of knowing where stuff is even if they are not looking directly at it).
Stuff can get old.
Stuff is almost everywhere, just ask anyone who's been there.
Eating lunch can make a lot less useful stuff happen, but most people aren't often worried since they are concentrating on not spilling their food down their chin.
Some common terms associated with stuff
- useful stuff (eg. "Get me some useful stuff, not this junk!"); silly stuff (eg. http://www.h2g2.com/U68045);
old stuff (eg. "no, not THAT old stuff!");
green slimey stuff (eg. The type that is occasionally found in bachelor fridges);
bug intestine stuff (eg The type that is found on vehicle windscreens);
large hairy monsters who likes stuff;
and in cases of contracting the flu, stuffed, stuffy, sneezing, and chicken soup takes the place of the usual stuff.
Research on Stuff
We cannot know how stuff was first discovered, since a lot of stuff went unnoticed for a long time. Also, a lot of stuff wasn't thought of until recently. One of the things that someone thought of was asking wealthy people for money so that they could look into stuff - which was ingenious because most of the wealthy people thought they knew a lot of stuff already and needed heavy convincing before they would part with their money. There is also a lot of debate from people who think that the money spent on researching stuff could be better spent on doing something more useful, like building more reliable lightbulbs, solving the worlds pollution problems, and other such broad problems. But the scientists argue that if we find out the fundamentals of how stuff works, our lives will be so much better. No one has ever proven them wrong.Links to other stuff
