Ishwor Gurung
Namaste! My name is Ishwor Gurung. The name Ishwor was given to me by an astrologer, having determined the position of the stars at the time of my birth. It is a generic name for God, translating into English as "The Almighty". In Nepal we don't have surnames, but take our second name from the ethnic group into which we were born. I served in the British Army, 2nd King Edward VII's Own Goorkhas (The Sirmoor Rifles) for 17 years prior to my retirement in 1993. I returned to Nepal and have variously been involved in the travel business, running a brewery, wildlife consevation and writing articles in the local press. I am currently very concerned about the civil war that is devastating this country and will do anything I can to bring about peace.
