A SIMPLE DEMONSTRATION OF ECONOMICS

It is now one month since the five main stream political parties in Nepal started their agitation against the so-called "regression". In that time the rental price for demonstrators has leaped from Rs200 per person per day to Rs500 plus free beer! When it gets to Rs1,000 even this unpaid scribe might be tempted to join in. For the price, bricks are provided free plus one day's accommodation in the police station of your choice. Not bad! Meanwhile shares in the Harrisiddhi Brick and tile factory have become hard to obtain. The current price for a truckload of broken bricks, delivered to the campus of your choice is Rs3,000. The only problem is that sometimes people get hurt. What we need is a supply of rubber balls for the agitators and rubber lathis for the police. I'm working on that one, but the nearest rubber supplier is across the border in Bihar and they're so busy making condoms that they have no spare production capacity. Maybe one of our readers might have some useful suggestions to make? Given the amount of loot amassed by the political parties when in power, it will be a while before demand runs out. So hurry up and cash in while the offer lasts! Happy rioting!
