Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

For ages I've been wanting to get a tattoo, but have put it off because I couldn't think of a design that I *really* wanted (I'm no expert on body modification, but I know enough that if it's not something you really want, you'll regret it)... but now I may have found the very design I've been looking for, the Seal of Rassilon from Doctor Who.

The design has many advantages... stylistically it would fit in to the Pictish design I'd like to get if I decided tattooing was my kind of thing (apparently there's no middle ground, you are either happy with the one tattoo you get or you want to keep getting more and more), it looks nice, and it allows me to advertise my fandom without getting something really obvious like a Dalek or something.

The thing is though... if I did get this tattoo will I have passed that Geekiness Event Horizon normally reserved for Star Trek conventioneers?

Bxstxrd! That's my idea. smiley - laugh And my precise reasoning too- fans will know what it is, but it looks like apretty celtic design to mundanes.

Quite possibly you- finances at the moment don't really allow for tattoos.

The scariest thing is that on t'other thread you linked to the very picture I chose as the best example of the Seal... and, assuming you found that picture using the same method I did, did you find it odd that doing an image search for Seal of Rassilon brought up more pictures of scantily-clad women than it did pictures of the seal itself?

Umm, I knew where to find one anyway- I just went to Shill's DWIA, I didn't do a search. I'm now curious to try a google search and see how 'seal of rassilon' brings up scantily clad women- I'm assuming we're not talking 'Peri in a bikini' here?

Nope... not Peri in a bikini.

Go to http://www.altavista.com and do an image search for "seal of rassilon" (without the quotes) and you'll see what I mean.

Nope - I get 9 images, mostly of the seal, and one odd image of a couple with pillows on their heads.

That's odd... is the Familiy Filter active on yours? Cos that might explain it.

I wonder if anyone has ever gotten an h2g2 logo tattoo? I don't remember reading about anyone.

H2G2 logo tattoo? I think I'll stick with the t-shirt and badges.

Isn't one of Marv's inks a H2G2 logo or at least derived from it?
