Even more bikey things!

I passed my CBT finally! Hooray! Now I am legally able to hit the streets on my CG, although personally I prefer to ride on them instead of hitting them, it hurts less.

Now tomorrow I will be starting my level 2 training to become a fully-fledged biker! My friend Dave has been helping me out by keeping an eye on me whilst I ride around, he's an experienced rider and has a large bike!

I still get nervous though, I must calm down more! I managed to do some practising around town a couple of times this week, it was nerve-wracking but fun!

More bike stuff

I got myself a bike, a little CG125, quite neglected judging by the amount of surface rust on it, and the dent in the tank (looks like it's been dropped, or something has been dropped on it!)

Anyway, it works, and my partner bought himself a (wait for it) - Cagiva Mito Evolution! Only a two-stroke 125cc, but hell, the acceleration on it! smiley - wow Needless to say, he WON'T be doing his CBT on it!

Now we are on the subject of the CBT, we both booked up at the same time to do it, with a non-profit making group who take a one-off payment, and you can take as many lessons as you need to get it right. So for instance, my partner will need just two mornings to pass, as he has done this before. I will need three at least, maybe more, but the surprising thing is that my first lesson went extremely well! Bearing in mind I have never even driven a car before, the bloke teaching me thought I was a natural! I just hope I can keep it up!!

Anyway, great fun when we did it, and my partner goes out for his road testing next Sunday, whereas I will be learning more control skills, having a bit of highway code testing, and my instructor hopes that by the third week I'll be out on the road too. Fingers crossed!!

The Bike Bug

Yep, I've been bitten bigtime by the bike bug! (trying saying that when you're drunk!)

My partner got bitten once more when his friend gave him a ride on the back of his Varedero the other week. I was bitten at a very small age (almost two I think) but never followed it up other than falling off bicycles regularly throughout my childhood years, whilst trying to emulate the courses on 'Kickstart'. (remember that program?)

Anyway, I had this big discussion (whilst drunk) with my partner and our poetical poet friend, where I explained the reasons why I don't do much in my life. The following morning, I felt quite clear-headed (except for the hangover, that is), and I realised that I must at least TRY to ride a bike. So today I went to a couple of bike shops with my partner, so I could look at the learner-legal bikes, and find which ones may be good for me to learn on. You see, I am not very tall (5' 5"), so reaching the floor with my feet is sometimes a small problem. I sat on a few, and found one that felt really comfortable, everything seemed to be in the right place, and I didn't feel like I had to stretch to reach anything. Then my partner tells me that the low riders are nice to ride, as he doesn't have to lean much to turn corners. So I wonder if the slightly more uncomfortable position would be tolerable in favour of less leaning on corners.

Well, I am a little perplexed and confused, and so I am just going to worry about getting the provisional licence renewed first. I found it and it doesn't have bike entitlement on it. Typical. That was because when I was 19 my dad told me not to put it on, probably because he didn't want me to ride one.

So, anyone know any good learner bikes I could try? 125cc, not a scooter/moped, as I don't feel comfortable on them, and I want to learn on a manual too.

Back to school...

...for my kids, anyway! I suppose I am a 'student' as well, doing a home study course on Egyptian hieroglyphs of all things! My partner is training to be a driving instructor, so we are all quite busy swotting up!

The earlier moan I had about life has cleared a bit, I get stuck in a rut sometimes because my fear of being a failure or of pain, or death, stops me living to my fullest. I decided the other night though, that doing a CBT course would not really be entirely life-threatening (except maybe the bit where you ride on the road!), so I should at least attempt that. With regard to my partner's biker friend (my friend also?), I discovered that he was a Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks fan like myself, so that pleased me somewhat! smiley - biggrin

I would love to see this man's paintings too, he seems to be multi-talented, being an artist, painting landscapes for a hobby in oil, watercolour and acrylic. My partner saw his paintings for the first time today, and he said they looked really professional. I wish this man could give me some tips on painting!smiley - winkeye

Anyway, rambling on as usual, and not a lot to say, except I became a fully-fledged moderator of a forum this week, which thoroughly chuffed me, as I have been a semi-moderator of one part of this forum for ages. It's nice to think I'm vaguely useful to someone!smiley - laugh

People that bug you

Tonight I got back from Norfolk, after saying my final farewells to my mum. Whilst up there, my dad informed me that my 'friend' had been ringing him practically every day bugging him to give my phone number.

This 'friend' is not a really close one, he became an acquaintance and sort-of hung on whilst I tried to get on with my life. He is a letch, he has tried it on with me a few times, and I haven't been too pleased, and there are a lot of things about him that I do not like, especially this way he bugs people by phoning them every day until he gets what he wants.

Now my real friends, if they phoned my dad to ask for my number, and he said no to them, they would leave it, and trust that I would get back to them. I haven't exactly had a good time of it, especially today, so hearing that my dad, who has been ill himself with a fever this week, gets bugged by this annoying little man, and is angry himself at it, riles me also to anger. I sent this man an e-mail to let him know what I thought of him, and I told him to wait a bit longer.

No need to reply to this one at all, I just needed a rant!
