Miracles do happen !

Late last night -- in fact, well after my bedtime smiley - winkeye -- The Olsen Brothers, aged 46 and 50, charmed the <> out of all of Europe and won the European Song Contest, having lead from the first score given to the last.

Isn't that wonderful? Here comes two guys, untouched by all the hype, sing a song written as a declaration of love the the songwriter's wife, not designed to win anything -- and yet they do. First in Denmark, collating maximum scores all over the place -- and then in Europe.

Though not being a Eurovison Song Contest follower, I love it -- and I think there's a lesson to be learned: Be yourself, do what feels right (and not what the media moguls believe to be right) and do it with all your conviction.

And see how far it can take you!

Congratulations, Jørgen & Noller -- so well done!

*sings to himself"

"Sumk som et stjerneskud..."

*err, sorry -- the language thing*

"Fly on the wings of love...."

A nice Tuesday

Tue, 2000.01.25

Today marks my 15 years anniversary. Not wedding anniversary (that's "only" running at 7 years and a bit), but still -- we've spent the last 15 years being us! And our friends actually said we sounded like a long time married couple even before it all started...

Anyway, I'm thoroughly happy with it. As my SO said when I asked if it was OK to go for another 15: "Why not simply continue..."

Yep, indeed, why not?

(if you read this as a praise for my wife, you can go straight to the cashiers desk and get your bonus points!)

New job!

Thursday, 2000-01-06

I spent the time between Christmas and New Year with a very rapidly spinning mind. And no, not due to any alcoholic beverages (though that *did* enter the picture on New Years eve, just in case you were getting worried. In fact, it had me working in slow motion all of Saturday!).

No, out of the blue I had been offered this new job and had to get the decision made and the whole thingumyjig wrapped up before the end of the month due to the 1 months notice needed in this country before leaving your current job.

Main reason for "bragging" about this here: Well, I need to update the warning on the page somewhere above this -- I will now be travelling globally rather than just European-wide. So keep looking behind you, you never know when I'll pop up and "Goddag og Velkommen" you!!!

More weather

OK, the hurricane damages are on the return. But now the snow starts falling, so traffic is just about at a standstill. In fact, up north from Copenhagen, the police is advising against leaving your home at all.

Many people wonder if all these climate related things are the cause behind the havoc. Much as I *do* believe we need to reduce CO2 and other emissions to reduce the heat build-up, I tend to think that Mother Nature is just having an awful lot of fun in this part of the world this year.

And winter is cool *pun intended smiley - winkeye*

Hurricaned

If anyone thinks I've been awfully silent for a few days, it's just because --

My ISP was down on Thursday

I've been "computerless" over the weekend due to family obligations away from home

On Friday, Denmark was hit by the worst hurricane of the century. We're talking major damages -- so far the estimated total runs to $250 million+. Forest totalling 3 million cubic meters of wood have been flattened and today, Monday, more than 20,000 houses are still without electricity. And all in about 10 hours...

When Mother Nature decides to let loose, we can be as high tech as we want -- she wins!

And -- our family was very, very lucky. No damages at all -- and just across the street they had a tree falling on the house and smashing in half the roof...
