Formulaic but generally palatable.
And the Welsh contingent in Hollywood appears to be growing...

Chopper

Can a man capable of some really vicious crimes actually be a likeable bloke? Apparently so, if this biopic is anything to go by. He can also be a bestselling author.
Eric Bana's portly performance of real-life Ozzie thug Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read borders on the surreal at times. When a friend tries to kill him in prison, not only does he show no pain, he doesn't really show any real malice. At times, displaying a hair-trigger temper for the merest slights, and then showing bizarre sympathy for people he's just done a mischief. As such, Chopper comes across as a much more complex character than his violents acts would seem to suggest. He also maintains some mystery - no attempt is made to explain his behaviour. Or his popularity, or even his apparent need for an audience.
As per Ozzie usual, the authorities come in for a bit of a drubbing, in this case, coming across as apathetic, easily manipulated or just stupid.
Disturbingly likeable.

Space Cowboys

I had my mind on other things when I was watching this, but here goes:
A little too technical, and ridiculously political (James Cromwell should now consider himself typecast). But made infinitely more bearable, and eminently watchable, ironically, by four old pros who know how to do deliver the goods without any fancy nonsense.
Sidenote: scriptwriter Ken Kaufman also wrote the script for Muppets in Space

American Psycho

A stunning, twisted mosaic of a truly shallow, superficial, egotistical characters, the least of whom is the title character. All this and the greatest hits of 80s.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
