Fear not, little one, for although we are entering uncharted territory, I shall endeavour to be your guide through the new lands.

We are embarking on a pioneer's quest, the journalistic equivalent of building a log cabin. We may have to fight off the 'bars' and cougars, but ultimately we shall succeed...

Only the fine and hoppy aromas of my dark ale, my dear.

( student smiley - nurse 's party last night smiley - devil )

But my lyrical waxings are as true a picture of my current employment as any painting or photograph.

Basically speaking, we're talking about helping to create something from nothing (or at least very little). When I came to work for this little regional television station, there was little or no new news. It was, basically speaking, rehashed from the local papers. This is not unusual for radio stations or even most newspapers, especially with news that is international or not local. But to do so entirely for local news is not good. This is the job I *started* doing, and it was one I quickly grew tired of. Basically it bothered me, more than even my words can say. But now we are becoming more and more independent, people are talking to us and saying good things about us, thanks to the work and effort myself and others are putting in. (Although, just to blow my own trumpet, I do a lot of other peoples jobs for them, but no one has ever had to write the news for me smiley - cool ).

So in evolutionary terms, we have left the ocean, and developed lungs. We are a long way from walking on two legs, or growing an apposable thumb, but give me a few million years and it'll happen. smiley - ok
