TDiD - Student of Luck/Fate

Dude, I'm a student at nottingham university as well. I've been stuck in Broadgate for the last year but now I'm moving out into the big wide ..um... Lenton.

Hopefully you might be able to help me. I installed Novell on my computer at the start of the year. Now I've come home and discovered that because I've got novell installed, my comp' won't let me use ICQ or play counter-strike online. I have bt anytime as my isp.

Any thoughts on how to help 'cos I'm totally computer illiterate.

Cheers

TDiD

Well, to be honest, I took NetWare off my computer as soon as I worked out that none of the Computer Science software is accessed through it (we use remote X logins, and I didn't need acess to Exceed via NetWare because I have my own X server anyway), so I never had any trouble with NetWare and the internet, as the situation never arose.

What I recommend is attempting to remove NetWare, since you won't need it anymore unless you plan to go back in Halls some time - in which case you can put it back. Start Menu then Settings then Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs should bring up a window that's got a list of installed programs in it. If you can find NetWare and/or anything like SNS software in it, click on it and press the Add/Remove button which should with any luck initiate the uninstall process.

Once it's gone (if it wants to go away), reboot and re-run the BT Internet installer program. With any luck, that should sort things out - I hope!

By the way, what version of Windows are you running? Sometimes it helps to know (if you don't know, click on the Start menu and see what it says up the left-hand side of it, or look at the big screen that appears when your computer's booting).

Hope that helps... do you know if there are any other Nottingham-based Researchers around? Perhaps we should have a mini-meetup next year. I have the good fortune to be moving to Dunkirk, not far from the south entrance - shame my department's on Jubilee really!

I used to be in Nottingham until I graduated last year. (First year Beeston then Cripps. Second and third Harley Street, Lenton. Fourth the Sycamores, Broadgate) I'm now in Reading but still a student. How many of us are there with Nottingham connections? How many of them may I know?

I don't know how many Nottingham people there are. I'm tempted to ask Shazz to put an announcement in the Post - then at least we can find out how many Post readers are in Nottingham!
