Just a thought,
You could tip off the post and start a scandle
or even a contest for the best one to get past the editors

I don't know. I think it might be interesting to see what happens. Of course, I may just be speaking from the point of view of someone who has no stake in the consequences (thankfully). Perhaps I could even link to the Alta Vista results page for "marzipan gin" from my personal page. You know, just to sort of help it along.
Frizz, I assume you're going out for a bit of plonkery, what with it being Saturday night (where you are, anyway) and all. Make sure you take a cab home, unless it's only a block or two and someone can point you in the right direction when you leave.
What does TPTB stand for, anyway?

TPTB
The Powers That Be or The People To Blame depending on ones point of view

Given that the editor of the post is a known weevil fancier you might be just the chap to leak the information

Hey now, none of this is my fault (??Is there a smiley for raising an eyebrow?). You type all this gibberish in but don't expect anybody to read any of it
ANd for all we know, there actually may be a drink simliar to Marzipan Gin (although granted this is quite unlikely).
Thanks for the concern Nick - got a lift home last night and just about made it up the stairs in my ludicrous party shoes (which seemed quite sensible when sober).
Maybe a MarGin hair of the dog for breakfast?

What about a drink fermented from left over xmas cake - Mar&Friut Wine?

Frizzychick Posted Dec 17, 2000
Certainly a preferable way to consume Christmas cake. Perhaps it should be investigated?

C Hawke Posted Dec 17, 2000
Well my mum always gives me one to take home after xmas, I usually eat about 1/4 (after picking of the pure sugar icing) before leaving the rest until I have to emprty the container for the next years. Last years remains just went into the bin as I needed the box - What a waste. It's not that they are not nice, but I am simply not a big fan of cake.
Now an alcoholic version is a different matter.
Instead of just imagining you can tast currents, raisens, plums, nettles or whatever you really would taste them.

Nick O`Teen Posted Dec 19, 2000
I'm not sure that this is a terribly safe path to follow. I think that alcolholic fruit cake would upset the balance of the universe.
And not in a good way, either. For, once people begin devouring alcoholic fuit cake, *something* has to take its place. And we all now that its better to stick with an evil that is well known than to forsake it for something potentially much worse.
But that's just my large unwieldy two-pence piece of advice on the matter, which is likely all it's worth, anyway.

Ah, but what does the tuppence bandit know - any fuel knows that you state your halfpenny worth - tuppence is just showing off

Well, I still have to find new bandit-like ways to get rid of the bloody things before they malform my spine. h2g2 forums seem as likely a place as any other.

I've been having troubles with h2g2 as well. Sometimes h2g2 is so slow that my browser just eventually times out on the site. It will do this starting at about 1:00pm until about 4:00pm. I can't imagine why it would be so slow, since there's only around 100 people online at that time. If the h2g2 servers can't handle that kind of load, well, that's pretty sad.
The stupid javascript on the buttons doesn't help either. If I click "Post Message" and it times out trying to send it, I click "Post" again and it tells me that it's already een submitted and I should be patient. In fact, there seems to be a 50% chance that the post was submitted (and thus, that I'd be posting it twice). So when the browser times out, I have to open another window, go to h2g2, go to the forum and check to see if my message was posted. If not, then I have to select and copy my message from he other window, reload the edit message page (to reset the stupid javascript), paste my text and submit it again.
It's as tiresome to do as it is to read about.

Frizzychick Posted Dec 23, 2000
I suspect my problem was self-inflicted. I'd pasted some text into a post box and when trying to backspace out some characters, the whole post would disappear and go back to the forum as if I hadn't replied. I'm not sure but I think I might have been hitting another key at the same time as backspace and triggering some keyboard shortcut hell.
And after the thrid or fourth time I walked away.

Do you have Lush Shop's out there? I still have to get two presents - one for my brother's wife and another for my other brother's wife's daughter (she's about 20). I was thinking of getting them something from the Lush Shop but perhaps you might have some suggestions, Frizz.

Frizzychick Posted Dec 24, 2000
There used to be a Lush in Canterbury but it shut - which is a shame as the soaps and massage oils they did were absolutely wonderful.
If you're stuck (although i guess it is probably a bit late now) anything by Aveda is a pretty good bet in terms of natural ingredients etc. (and good and expensive as well - or at least it is in UK). If anybody bought me Aveda products I'd be well impressed.

I wound up picking some nice baskets of stuff at the Body Shop. Hope that'll do the trick. It was raining and the Lush Shop was just too darn far to walk.
