Hi Frizzy, as a scout I have to scour the depths of H2G2 for articles to reconmend - I think the Marzipan Gin is one that could be a runner - would you mind if I reconmended it to TPTB when it is next my turn to do so?

If so either reply here or put it on the peer review page, of course if you do that, another scout might get it and I will have to go back into the bowels of the site to find something else, and it's dark and scary in there.

Yes, no problem - I don't want to have the guilt of sending you back into the bowels of the site - sounds all too messy to me. Thanks for considering it smiley - smiley

Cool, I have just been given my 7 day warning of my "time of choosing" (is it me or does that sound like something from Highlander?)

So I'll pop over later to the PR page, add it, and submit to my peers - no promises though - if it was on the PR page the guidence is not to tell the researchers a scout has put it foward, but as I have had to mine this entry I think it is fair.

I'll let you know.

Well they liked it, the thread on the Peer Review page went up and soon it will be moved to the entry itself and you'll notice the entry will be classed as reconmended. Next, the wait. Eventually a sub-ed will read and edit it and e-mail you.

Well done - anymore gems like this lying around?

Oh poo. No fair. How come Frizz gets her marzipan gin article taken into consideration whilst my St Weevils Day page languishes? smiley - smiley

I'm sorry Nick, honest, I don't want to come between the two of you.

All my fault really (and Frizzy's partly) as I try to Scout things researchers *haven't* submitted to the PR page - so if Frizzy had submitted it, it may still be there.

Now I'm after my next three to submit, so maybe, just maybe I'll look over your page for lost gems. smiley - smiley

Of course it could be that whilst your entry is a fun read it isn't, I am guessing, actually true, now is it? smiley - smiley

Now what we need is an approval method for fun stuff like that, with lots of pictures in it so yoof can appreciate it as well.

I'm abit confused here... what isn't true - because as far as I am aware neither me of Nick ever type a word of the truth. To make a differentiation is a little odd.

Marzipan Gin, or MarGin, is the creation of my deviant and sickly weevil-obsessed mind. Frizz and I had a bet going regarding the use of the word "weevil" amongst the forums here on h2g2, and Frizz lost. As punishment, she had to write a guide entry and decided to write a very entertaining fiction of marzipan gin, which I still laugh at to this day.

I believe the actual link between marzipan gin and it being a weevil's alcoholic drink of choice happened not long after.

Blast, I thought you were scouting about for the dregs of insanity here on h2g2. Frizz and I are usually quite good at that sort of thing, Frizz moreso once she's had a bit of plonk. smiley - smiley

Now i am confused (and as it is late on Friday nite a bit "happy" myself)

Whatever, I don't care - all i know is that the drink now exists -AltaVista says so (The only match in a search ther gave Frizzy's page) so it is real, this is how history is made. As soon as a search engine finds something it exists - remember DNA's words "In an infinite universe, everything..is possible"

Hey, that's good enough for me. Congratulations Frizz, you've gone world-wide. smiley - biggrin I hope the Dutch won't be too upset about this sort of revisionist history lesson of yours. smiley - winkeye

Of course, they have to think to search for it, first. smiley - smiley

Perhaps a couple of people, methinks.

And what do you mean, "we"? You wrote the bloody thing. smiley - biggrin I don't want to have to explain to the Dutch people all this stuff of which they, strangely enough, have absolutely no recollection. Like "gin elders", for example. smiley - smiley

Now I have a problem, do I (we) fess up to TPTB or just leave it and see what happens?

As I said AltaVista says there is such a thing as MarGin so who are we to say they are wrong.

Myth becomes fact another legend is born.

Now where did I put my rocket assisted car as I plan to drive off to a launch site for my weather ballon powered chair, stopping on the way to blow up a few petrol stations by using my mobile phone near them and to shove a rodent up my......(enough urban myths -Ed)

Fess up, definitely. I don't think I could live with the guilt of confusing dutch people.
