i had to run, once i'd gotten that idea in my head.... ah occupational hazard of being addicted.
well, i must say, edinburgh hasn't done itself any favours... arrive at the venue at 8.30 (funny how everything in edinburgh's that much smaller than in glasgow - the venue was tiny) - just in time for the support, matthew jay, who i was particularly keen to see since i'd missed him when he'd supported low gold. no, missed him, he'd already been on. (bugger, he'll go stadium and i'll never get the chance to see him ) starsalior come on at 9.00 pm and leave, after a pretty good rendition of good souls at 10 pm. we kinda feel swizzled, it took me longer to get to edinburgh than the band played. i must say, that for that hour they were rather good, that wee lead singer, camp as christmas, that was the funniest bit, him talking to the crowd, bit like that bloke, duncan norvell - was that his name? - "chase me...." very funny.
d'you do anything exciting last night?

Solsbury Posted Aug 15, 2001
I thought it might have been something like that!
How long does it take to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh?
So you enjoyed Starsailor then I guess.
Last night I just had a quiet night. Sorted out some music (my MP3s were moved from one machine to another), did some work related paperwork, did some washing, spent several hours chatting online to a friend. Nothing unusual or exciting.

sounds like quite a fun evening - d'you have a lot of stuff on mp3?
yeah, they were quite good, despite only playing for an hour. i took the bus last night and it takes about 1 hour 10, so you can understand my disappointment. i guess it must have had something to do with the festival that it ended so quickly, but talk about being conned.
oh washing and paper-work, bummer (do the latter, never the former!)

I had to do the washing (thank goodness for the tumble dryer ). The paperwork was to do with the benefits package here at work so something I really aught to do I think.
MP3, it said 904 files, I think about 2.5Gb, so not *that* much
It covers everything from classical to dance to jazz to reggae to blues to indie to rock to pop to show tunes to off the wall something for every mood and taste.

washing ... thank goodness for my mum !
mmmmm.... i'm interested in the show tunes (not enough men'll admit to liking show tunes - wonder why?) i have a soft spot for 'carousel', i've got a tape of the london production, a few years back with the wonderful mandy patikin (sp?) singing the billy barker part (him from chicago hope and the princess bride) (got him singing south pacific .... guess who's a child of her mother's generation?) it also got john altman in it - nasty nick cotton from eastenders singing, he's good too. must have something to do with the football anthem!
i love musicals, mgm sundays (you know, its pissing down outside, you've got a cup of hot chocolate and an mgm musical - that's almost perfect) i really wanted gene kelly to be my dad when i was kid (he was in our house more than mine) in fact for a while i thought he was. d'you have any strange flights of fancy when you were a child? what did you want to be when you were grown up?

I stopped taking my washing home when I realised that I'd never have anything to wear when I was there if I did
Show tunes... Well it goes from Rocky Horror through a whole bunch of Lloyd Webber stuff to things like Porgy And Bess (Summertime) and South Pacific (Bali Hai). I'll admit to liking a lot of different things

I think I just wanted to do what most small boys do, you know astronaut, train driver and that. Still wouldn't mind having a go at either

never been the biggest fan of lloyd webber - bit too jumped up and fancy for me. i like rogers and hamerstein, leonard and lowe etc, the golden era of musical, south pacific, carousel, oh west side story... on the town (frank's brilliant in that) anything with belting tunes
i live with my mum (yep, i'm 30's years old and just moved back in with my mum, i hasten to add) i hate her doing my washing, in fact i hate her doing anything for me, she shouldn't have to, i managed to cope the 13 years i wasn't living with her! but bless her for trying anyway
i had a friend who wanted to be fire engine ahhhh. apart from wanting gene kelly for a dad, i don't think i ever had my heart set on doing anything ... god, that's really sad, i've never had an ambition... nah, i'm quite proud of that really, i pride myself on being very laid back
d'you know what this place is missing? a guide entry on mark 'n' lard - fancy helping?

Some of the tunes are OK. For some reason (and for some time now) I've been wanting to get hold of a copy of Variations (you know the theme from the South Bank Show). Not sure why but the tune won't go from my head till I've got it
I don't think I could go back to living with my parents now. It'd just drive me batty I think as my mum would want to do everything for me like you say.
If you write the entry I'll point out anything I can!

weegie Posted Aug 16, 2001

Hot Shots II
Solsbury Posted Aug 16, 2001
Sort of.
Enjoy seeing Turin Brakes tonight
I'll be on a quiet night in again. May go and get some beers on the way home though...

Hope you're not too hungover
hope you weren't fretting about my headers and footers
- all sorted now
Turin Brakes were really good (certainly better than starsailor) d'you have their album? definately one to purchase. they really looked as if they were enjoying themselves and they played an encore, which always helps. its psychological, they played about the same time as starsailor, but instead of f*****g off, they went off then played an encore and we went home relatively happy
d'u have a good one last night?
