A/C but no nice view smiley - sadface One side of the office looks out over flats in the barbican (that's what I see if I look up). The other side (far away behind me) looks out over a few low building tops.
Do you get a nice view (if any) from your office?

Hi ya,

How's it going? did you have a nice bank holiday? me? i was working

OMG, U2 last night .... OMG, two from the front, inside that heart-shaped thingy. really strange. everytime bono and the edge (grrrrrrr) went down the front, we turned round and looked at the audience infront - i mean how many times do you look round at a gig? (i'm not a front of the crowd person, being small, i never expect to see much anyway, plus i've got a terrible sense of balance and i have tendancy to fall over, so i'm a back person) but it was like being on the stage, cos everything's projected out to the rest of the audience, fantastic. i had no idea what was happening in the rest of the arena. but bono definately dyes his hair!!! smiley - smiley

Yep, the bank holiday was nice. Didn't do much over the weekend just spent it lazily.
I think you had fun at the U2 Gig then smiley - biggrin Sounds like a return to form for them. Driving back to London last night I was listening to some of the R1 Reading/Leeds coverage and there was lots of people commenting that the set done by the Manics had a kind of farewell/end of the road feel to it. Wonder if that really is the case.
Turning round reminds me of seeing Starlight Express a couple of years back (a friend got some tickets cheap) as the stage/track extends round the audience with some audience level stuff.

Bono turned up to my friend's 50th birthday party in Dublin. She had no idea he was invited and nearing fainted when he sat down next to her.

yeah, they were fantastic, you've got to love those big spectaculars. its just been wee gigs for the last couple of months, in fact, i can't remember the last time i went to see a band with, you know, a proper set design ... and boy was the set good. they definately put on a show. jen(the friend i went with) and i really want to go tonight, but i don't think our knees could handle it smiley - smiley i think we're getting too old for this shite!

So manchester was fun? smiley - biggrin and you're obviously glad to be back at work! I'm so glad i've got the afternoon off (i woke up this morning and really wished i'd taken the day off!) i'm going to go back to bed. how pathetic is that?

mmmm the manic's might be splitting up... i've never been their biggest fan. pretty shocked to hear about that Alliyah burd dying though!

Died in plane crash over the bahamas at the weekend. pretty rock and roll way to go smiley - biggrin she was only about 22 or something - didn't she recently have a baby? i don't really know that much about her, except she won't be doing the matrix 2 now !

I checked out the bbc news and there were comments about the plane being overloaded with luggage. Still not a nice way to go smiley - sadface

Post 231

yeah, i'd seen that on nme website. you're right, it's not a nice way to go, but then its pure rock and roll smiley - cool

how are you? hope everything's going well. i just had to have the afternoon off. i was so shattered. i'm getting to old for that kind of s**te anymore. i suppose when you think about it, i went straight to the gig from work, then i was standing from 6.30 till about midnight so no wonder my knees are killing me! i thought i'd get home was a wee sleep, but its oxfam week in glasgow, so i had to deliver all these envelopes. i hate stairs and i hate all the wee decorative gates i saw a beautiful array of letter boxes though, the rennie mackintosh style is extremely popular round my way!

Kind of makes you think about that extra little bit of luggage you totally have to need smiley - tongueout

You don't tend to think about people having all sorts of different letterboxes but I guess that delivering envelopes gives you some perspective on the posties job.

Finally found out what is happening with my computer here at work. The machine I'm using right now is going to be taken away by the guy who used to use it. I get a different machine from someone else, just need to move everything over between the machines!

they did that too me, gave me a new shiney computer (well new to me) and now i can't do anything, i'm most disappointed about not being able to load up my mark and lard screen saver - <shakes head in an exaggarated manner? what-kind-of-place-is-this?

went to see planet of the apes at the weekend mmmmm..... have you seen it? no point talking about it you haven't smiley - smiley

I've heard the ending is rather similar to the original movie, still it's Tim Burton, so it's bound to look fantastic smiley - smiley

Hot Shots II

Post 237

weegie

ah but the ending's not the same. all the way through the film i had to keep reminding myself that this is a reinterpretation of the film and not a remake and he's not going to find the statue of liberty and discover its earth. its strange it doesn't feel or look like your typical tim burton film

Hot Shots II

Post 238

Solsbury

But what is a typical Tim Burton film then?

you know, edward scissorhands, bettleguise, sleepy hollow, the night before christman, batman even, all have a certain gothic style. dark, bleak, mixed with the occult. strangely beautiful shapes. wizend. apart from mars attacks, which is based on bubble gum cards of the '60's. have you seen that little book he wrote and illustrated, can't remember for the life of me what its call, its really beautiful.

planet of the apes isn't like that. i guess because it's a sci-fi movie, but it doesn't feel or look like any of his previous films. not much of a story either, but then i've just finished reading the book, which is really good.

See what you mean when you list the movies like that smiley - smiley I didn't know he did a book, but would expect it to look lovely.

As it's a remake then I guess he probably couldn't make too many changes to it. Was the book out before or after the original movie?
