I love your description of your hubby's activities in the kitchen! It took me a long time to 'modify' ours. Although I used units from the store, every one of them had to be altered in some way because of the shape and nature of the room. It was worth it in the end though and we have a kitchen we're very happy with.

It's been raining on and off here today. I popped out to buy some vegetables from a guy in the village who has a little selection in his front garden, you know the kind of thing, leave the money in a box, well, it was jolly cold and there were even a few flakes of snow in among the raindrops. Happily it came to nothing and the temperature seems to have risen a degree or so now.

I think Mrs L has now taken a turn for the better. The headache has gone and she doesn't seem to be coughing and sneezing quite so much. Let's hope she's on the mend. I'm sure thesmiley - spacesmiley - chocsmiley - spaceandsmiley - spacesmiley - petuniassmiley - spaceare helping!

Hope your days has been ok. Are you safe to go back into the kitchen yet?

Til soon,

I really can't see the point of his attempting to modify the kitchen, we only intend to decorate it to clean up a bit, until we sort out about getting the kitchen redone.

We had a bit of icy rain this afternoon. There is supposed to be some snow during the next 24 hours, hopefully, it will just about miss us. As the the elderly gentleman, I'm pleased the old traditions haven't totally died out. smiley - smiley

I glad Mrs L is feeling much better and I hope she will get over the last bit if it soon smiley - hug

.... Oh! I'm free to venture into the kitchen now... Until he decorates and doesn't want me pointing out where he's missed! smiley - laugh

Hi Lil,

Today arrived with bright sunshine and looked like spring from indoors looking out; out there was a slightly different story, it was COLD! On with the winter coats and things to go out and bring in the coal and cut some logs!

I have a report to prepare for the beginning of March and although that sounds like a long way off there's a lot of information to gather before I can get writing. Today I tried to make a start on the process and I guess I did get somewhere on the way. It's the 'blank sheet' phenomenon except it's on a screen! Once you start to write you break the first barrier and it starts to look do-able.

Mrs L is a little better although she did wake up with the headache back again. She gets a lot of those at the best of times so when there's something else it's often added to by a bad head. Just hope it continues to improve before Thursday when we're due to leave for Kent for a few days with my daughter.

Enough about me. How's your day been? Are you keeping warm in all this cold weather?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hope you're ok Lil. I'm in Kent now and though it's bloomin' cold at least it's dry.

We stopped off at a dealers on the way here yesterday to look at a car that interested us. It looked quite good at a first look and we're going to go again on the way back to give it a test drive. If it fills the bill and we can get a decent deal then we might go for it. That won't be 'til next week so I'll let you know how that goes.

Take care mi deario,

Hey Lil! You need to watch that sneezing! Goodness me, that must have been some sneeze to give you whiplash like that. I sure hope you're getting over it now — and just you stay away from the pepper!

Mrs L continues to emerge from the dreaded lurg, if a little slowly. She sounds pretty croaky later on in the day and is s-l-o-w to get going in the morning. When I get a cold or something like that, I really am not nice to know for three or four days — horrible, nasty, anti-social and sorry for myself. When the memsahib gets one it goes on and on and on and ... well, you get the picture!

OK, so they're still threatening all manner of unfriendly weather aren't they. If the forecast is to be believed we shall see some snow in the next few days. I guess there's not much I can do about it but believe me, if I could I would. We're only here in Kent for a few days and I'd rather they weren't spoiled by the white stuff. Added to that we have to drive back all the way to Dorset on Tuesday, come what may (almost) and possibly in the new car (if it passes my inspection and test drive)? smiley - smiley Oh dear, just looked out of the window and there are a few flakes falling.smiley - spacesmiley - wah

Well, I guess that's about all for tonight, flower.smiley - spacesmiley - rose
You take care of yourself and we'll talk again soon.

Hi Lil,

I'm surrounded by germ-breathing women, HELP! Mrs L may not be infectious but my daughter and her partner are both coughing and sneezing all over the place!

AND the snow has started again so goodness what that will look like by morning. I really can't afford the time to be cut off here. It doesn't seem to be snowing very hard but if it keeps it up all night, who knows! We may need to take up your offer yet!smiley - spacesmiley - sadface

You look after that neck and no more violent sneezes! Better keep clear of hubby for a while!smiley - spacesmiley - winkeye

I'm off to bed now, hopefully to sleep a bit better than last night. I've put my MP3 player on the bedside table just in case I need to listen to some music. I could have done with it last night but it was so cosy under the duvet that I couldn't be bothered to get out and find it!

Hi Les,

From what I've gathered, there is a thaw on the way, so you might not be snowed in for long smiley - snowball

There are bugs everywhere! I'm not going out, and Hubby can have the big bed to himself until he stops coughing all over the place smiley - winkeye

You keep warm with Mrs Les... and I will snuggle up with me Matt smiley - lurk!! smiley - laugh

Goodnight, and sleep tight!

Hi Lil,
No more snow today, I'm pleased to say! And in spite of being covered in snow and stood out in the freezin', the car started first turn, which is not so bad for an old 'un. I just hope the new one will be as reliable if we decide to go for it tomorrow.

Today we ventured out, just a bit of necessary shopping in a few different places, and I was pleased to find it not to-o-o-o cold. The dashboard thermo' said 5°C and I guess as there was no wind it felt ok.

We're certainly keeping plenty warm enough indoors. My daughter's home has a lovely wood-burner in the sitting room and is a bungalow so the heat spreads pretty well through the house. Through the big patio doors we have a good view of the bird feeders. They have a fine variety of birds visiting so there's always entertainment!

Hope you're dodging the bugs effectively! Stay snuggled!

Hi Lil,
Just a brief visit tonight as it's getting late and I've had a long day.

Well the news of the day has to be THE CAR! Yes, we went and looked at it again and took it for a test drive this time. Everything was fine and we have now brought it home. It's a Peugeot 307 in a nice metallic blue, the colour we had said we really wanted. With only 23,000 miles on the clock it's almost like driving a new car.

All the roads were clear of snow on the way home although there was still quite a bit lying around off the roads in Kent and Sussex. By the time we arrived back over this side of the country there was no sign of it and I doubt if there's been any at all down here on the Dorset coast.

OK, so I should toddle off to bed now and recharge the batteries.
Talk with you again soon.

Les

Hello love.. smiley - hug

I never did manage to get back here to reply to last night's posting.

Apart from going out to sort something with my Dad, nothing much happened yesterday.

Glad you sort out your new car!.. Ours is said to be a metallic blue, but it's more aqua/green with bluish tinges smiley - artist

You get to bed... Sleep tight!!

Hi Lil,

It's a bit nippy out there today but still no white stuff, I'm pleased to say.smiley - smiley

Out this evening at 'Poetry and pizza' with some friends. Read poetry, eat pizza! Can't be bad.

Lit the sitting room fire this afternoon so it looks and feels much more cheerful now. Radiators may be warm but they don't look as good do they. (Mind you, they're on too!) Nice cuppa and some goodies and that's me satified.

Keep cozy and have a nice evening!

Hi Les,

I would keep cosy, only Hubby decided we needed a plinth heater in the kitchen - not just any heater, but one connected to the central heating! I am now sitting here with a new electric fan heater while he and his brother plumb in the new heater. Oh.. and fix the hall radiator because they broke something on it! smiley - rolleyes

Enjoy your evening, love.. and I will catch up with you tomorrow, if not before smiley - ok

Hi Lil,

Well, do you have a nice warm kitchen — and hall — now with your enhanced heating system? I do hope so.smiley - spacesmiley - smiley

We had a surprise visit from some old friends yesterday. The woman was a college friend of Mrs L and I knew her well too since we were all together back in those days. They live in the Eden Valley up near Penrith, Cumbria but had to come down to Weymouth to the funeral of her husband's brother. Unfortunate circumstances but so good to see them again. We've always kept in touch and have seen them from time to time but not for a while. They were only able to stay one night so we had to make the most of them!

I'm afraid that despite steering clear of Mrs L's germs I've succumbed to the stinker of a cold that my daughter had when we were in Kent. It's a right pain but I shall dose like mad and hope that it is short-lived. I think I told you, my colds are usually short and horrible!

It's been a wet day today and not quite as cold, which suits me better than freezing. I had to go out this afternoon to sort out a friend's computer, which all went well I'm pleased to say, and now it's TV and a nice fire for the evening.smiley - spacesmiley - smiley

So, 'til soon,
smiley - hugssmiley - space'nsmiley - spacesmiley - smooches,
Les

Hi Les,

The heating is back on full again. I can't actually see any benefit from the new plinth heater, I just think it accentuates the rest of the areas that are cold - I noticed the cold in there before! smiley - rolleyes

It was nice that your friends called in. It would have been a shame had they just returned straight home from the funeral smiley - hug

Sorry you are now under the weather with man-flu smiley - winkeye... I hope you recover from it soon!

lil xx
