One thing's for sure: tax doesn't get any less complex! My sister-in-law has small business interests and navigating one's way through the minefield of new regulations is nothing short of a nightmare.

Well, the tax return is complete and a few computer glitches ironed out!

Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, we shall be heading for home in the afternoon.

On Saturday our new bed should be arriving. Hooray!

Talking of new cars, which I believe we were at one point, my sister-in-law here bought herself an S-type Jag recently. It's a lovely car but she's had so much trouble with it. It's such a shame because she's wanted one for so long and now it's taking the pleasure out of it.

I'm sorry your sister is having problems with her car. Is she in the RAC? They will check it over for her


At least her Tax Return is completed and she doesn't have that to worry about.

This will of course come as a total surprise to you, we're not on our way home today! The morning somehow got filled up (as they do) and by the time lunchtime had arrived we'd lost the enthusiasm for a 6 hour drive and decided to stay 'til tomorrow. Plus my sister-in-law was saying "Oh, don't go home today!"

So it looks like we'll be off tomorrow instead.

Hi Lil,

Home again at last! Not too bad a drive though it was lo-o-o-ong. Sheffield to Dorset is a heck of a long way. We took a couple of stops on the way, one for lunch on the M42 and another for some tea and refuel near Bristol.

When we got out of the car at this end there was a perfectly clear sky and the stars were so bright! I guess that means it will be a cold night but at least it's dry down here. On the way down, further north, there was some rain but not as bad as I've known on some journeys so we were very lucky.

And yes, all being well they should deliver the bed tomorrow. I shall celebrate by diving into it under the lovely new thick duvet and staying there until it gets warm again outside! (Hmm... fat chance!)

Tonight we've had icy rain and hail. Manchester had snow flurries which didn't appear to be sticking - just yet.

Good to know you are home safely. Careful how you get rid of the old bed, we don't want you spending too long in the new one with a bad back!

The day of 'The Bed' has arrived! Hooray!

And very nice it looks too. Just got to make it up now and I can try it out.

I think we have a taker for the old one on Freecycle which is nice as it's still good enough to do someone a turn.

Today is beautifully sunny, a bit chilly out of the sun but quite warm if you can find a sunny spot away from the wind.

Hi Lil,

Sounds like you need to stay tucked up warm indoors! Not that it's exactly hot here at the moment and a quick look at the forecast shows that it's set to get colder too. Brrr .... not my idea of fun.

Well, two nice men came with a trailer and took away the old bed as one of them needed one. It's good to see that it will get a bit more use. And I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight!

I do hope that the weather doesn't deteriorate too much since I'm meant to be going to my daughter in Kent in a few days. I know what it can be like over there in the winter as I was at school in Canterbury and can remember being snowed in on more than one occasion!

Ah well, I guess that about wraps up today.

Happily, I have the super-warm hat with the ear-flaps that my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas and some good fleece jackets.
They will be getting some serious use!

So, I slept like the proverbial log!

Sadly Mrs Les has the most awful cold/sore throat/headache/cough and is not in a good place to appreciate the new bed. Dosing on all sorts of things and trying to keep warm!

Colder today and this evening it was raining. It could have been worse of course, but we won't go there!

Cheered up with a couple of episodes of The Big Bang Theory!
