Went out to look for a new bed today.
Looked at cars.
Bought wheel trims for the RV.
Bought a duvet.
Bought various groceries.
Bought pyjamas for the grandchildren.
Had lunch out.
Walked by the harbour.
No new bed!
Oh well, another day tomorrow!

Did you want to buy a new bed?
We once went looking for a new car....
.... and bought a house instead
See you again, soon

I guess it's not too uncommon then. My daughter went out to get wild-bird food and came back having bought a Mercedes!
Yes, our bed has served well but rather too long! We need to treat ourselves to a new one. We had another try today and managed to narrow it down to a shortlist of 4!
Actually we are hoping to change the car too. It's still pretty good but getting rather old and high-mileage so it's probably time to change. It's a Citroën Xsara hatchback and is so comfortable. Not sure what we'll get next.
Yes, see you again soon.

Belated New Year's Greetings!
Sorry, things have been so hectic here.
There have been lots of things to do. Hopefully it will settle down again, soon
Very Best Wishes for you and your family for the New Year!
love,

Thanks Lil, and a very happy new year to you too!
Hope you get time to breathe soon.
By the way, we settled on a bed at long last. Made a hole in the piggy bank but should be very good. Narrowly avoided getting tempted into new living room seating — for now!

Amazing things sort of move along in different directions, isn't it?
Kitchen is stripped and ready for decorating, but do we need a new kitchen first?
Oooh! The living room need decorating too. The carpet is fine - but that suite won't fit with the new plans....
Me?... Nope.. That is Hubby's thinking!
That's only the start of it. We will be consulting divorce lawyers by the end

Oh the joys of domestic bliss!
We are actually supposed to be getting the heating upgraded and the wiring seen to! No point in decorating before we do that since it will only make a mess of it. The carpet has been down for 15 years or more so that's up for a change. That hasn't stopped us identifying a local artist whose work we like and want to buy some for the bedroom. And so it goes on, round and round! Heating and wiring are so boring!
Maybe I need

Our heating and wiring will need sorting in about 5 years time. So maybe we just tidy things up for now and get it all done at the same time. We could save up for a decorator to come in then

Mmmm... yummy
We have a good local decorator who's done work for us before. Also, my fave sister-in-law is a professional painter/decorator and can sometimes be schmoozed into helping out for a holiday in the country!
We've had a bad time with plumbers though. It was all supposed to be done before the winter but we were let down. I used to do all that sort of thing myself but I've got idle in my old age.
The last major thing I did in the house was to refit the kitchen so that looks nice anyway.

Yep, it's nice
I used to do most of the painting and decorating, but I can't do that anymore. Hubby has problems seeing where he's missed
We sort of did the kitchen in a bit of a hurry about 20 years ago, because there wasn't anything in it, and we had to move in asap. It's done it time, so we can't complain about it.

I don't think we can coerce anyone to come for a holiday near an oil refinery!

Hmm.... I guess as holidays go, that's a bit of a 'niche market' but you never know.
Our kitchen was '60s and not very attractive when we moved in over 17 years ago and was one of those things you say when you view a property, you know, "Hmm... it'll need a new kitchen". 12 years later when neither of us could put up with it any longer I ripped the lot out and rebuilt it in a rather nice country style. It's a kitchen full of nooks and crannies and was, let's say, a challenge!
I'm not too bad at painting but a total duffer at papering!
I think it's time to hit the hay now (you know what they're like in these rural parts!) so I'll say goodnight.
Til soon

When you think about it, we are all happy with our lot until something shiny comes along
Of course, you need your sleep before the cock crows and wakes you up again!
Sleep tight, love.. G'night

I wonder if you're having this nice boisterous weather too? Slightly more than a tad breezy, it's blown down a fence panel and there's a tree that looks decidedly precarious.
On the plus side, the birds have been in a state of great excitement for days and it's all very entertaining. The crows especially are a fun crowd, flying wildly about and shouting at one another all the time. Where we sit in the sunroom having breakfast gives us a grandstand view.
Stay safe, be happy!

We have been glad that we remove the old birch tree a couple of years ago. It has already moved once before during a storm in the 80's. I doubt it would have remained upright during the recent gales
So far we've managed to keep all our fencing panels

Hi Lil,
This morning I looked out from the bedroom and could hardly believe that, after the fierce weather of yesterday, there wasn't a single leaf stirring! Absolutely no breeze whatsoever! I think the birds were a bit puzzled too but were taking full advantage of the feeder not swinging about so violently that it was hard to hang on!
Glad to hear that you are all still intact up there too.

Hi Les,
Just a quick note, as I'm going out for the day
I think the birds are as confused about the weather as the plants are!
See you later, hunny

I hope your day out went well. Business or pleasure?
I had a meeting with our MP in the morning but from then on the day went a little bit pear-shaped. One of our rental properties was due for its gas check and we ended up having to replace the cooker hob. Still, could have been worse.
Look out for you later.
