Lil so sorry to hear this. It is doubly sad when things like this happen during a lovely happy time. It just shows we should enjoy every minute as we none of us knows what will happen next.

As to the spats on this site I am thankful I have seen/heard nothing of it and I am in tune with Prof as always.

Whatever is bugging people, there are more important things to get steamed up about surely

Before I go to bed, here is an update on Neal's progress so far:


He is awake and off the respirator. He is talking gibberish because of the morphine levels - but then he's not that different in RL!

It seems some of the information I'd previously been given was incorrect...

The operation took so long yesterday because the surgeons were trying to fit an external cage to the damaged leg, without touching the rods and pins already in place. This was done using X-rays and is very time consuming.

They intend to operate again at the weekend, this time to remove the pins from the upper leg. They will need to control his blood loss, as this could cause him to lose the leg.

They will be operating on the lower leg later in the week. This needs to be done as one of the breaks is very close to his dislocated ankle, which also needs manipulating back into position. Luckily the pulse to his foot has remained strong. As with the upper leg, there is still a chance he could lose at least part of his leg because of excessive blood loss.

The smashed knees will have to wait until he is more mobile, as he cannot walk with the cage on. Nor can he use crutches until his broken and dislocated shoulder has been sorted out.

A lovely B & B owner has taken VV under her wing for the night, and will ensure she has a breakfast in the morning!

VV is now home. She will return on Saturday and stay overnight with VC to keep her company.

Neal is a little uncomfortable as he's now been reduced to the morphine pump - but he's complaining that the needle in his hand is hurting him most! Strange man!

He is scheduled to have the first operation on the pins in his leg on Sunday, so your healing vibes will be fully appreciated

Goodness, a Sunday, you must have good people up there. We scarcely get staff on duty at the weekends, let alone operations - sorry, procedures as they call them down here!

Neal's operation has begun. We don't know how long it will take, but as he will be kept sedated again, VV and VC are on their way home now, as VV might not be in a fit state to drive later
