When my throat gets funny I attack with:

Propolis(a desinfectant taken from the bee hives)

Honey and lemon juice squeezed in hot water.

Vitamin A (careful with this, it must be taken every 6 months more or less. Since it´s not hidrosoluble, the suplus remains in your body and can give you headaches)
But it really works to boost your inmune system.

What on earth is a "compromised auto-immune system"?

I start every day with freshly-squeezed fresh lemon juice in a mug of very hot water. and being in my wheelchair has meant that I no longer have to have pain killers which make me lose my balance.

So at the moment I am ony trying to lower my enormously high BP. It gives the most dreadful fright to all the doctors when they take it. But I actually do not even know I have it. However, my skin objects horribly to the medication.....Sadly.

But I just think I am so incredibly lucky to be still alive. and kicking. and loving this website, and life, and good TV. and friends and of course my darling K. who has had such a struggle all his life and yet never complains.

With much affection and do let us know when you will have to stop using the laptop and go back to your jolly old . I was considering getting a laptop but after your horrid experience I think I shall most certainly not. It seems to me a whole new " and space bar" game.

I actually said 'compromised immune system'... This is because of me being agoraphobic I don't get out very much, so when I do it's usually to the hospital or doctors - where I am going to be subjected to lots of viruses and stuff

I do have a compromised auto-immune system too. In my case it's my thyroid, it works to a certain extent, but my pituitary gland is saying it isn't, so the cells are not picking up the hormones properly. I have to take tablets to cope with it

PS.. Try a laptop before you purchase (Huggy uses ours mostly) I think it's because I am a trained typist, that I can't cope with such a narrow keyboard. If you are just using one or two fingers, you might find it most suitable to your needs

How awful. well I hope that the tabs the doctors give you work.
I keep hoping that maybe we shall be able to go away at Christmas. But I know I would be lost without my computer.

However the hotel where we usually stay has several computers which one can use so that would be great. Instead of a laptop. No actually, although I am not a professional typist, because I used to play the piano I am able to touch type.

The interesting fact is that the reversal of the last two letters of a word, which Terry Pratchett noticed he was doing after his stroke seems to be happenihg to me as well. It is very annoying with three letter words such as teh, adn, nto etc. !! It means it takes a long time to edit. !!

Keep well and it is so good to have you online. I am glad that you have met Paul H. He is a real brick. And dear Gnoman the . Very special and one of the few RL people whom both K and I have met.

I've had the problem for a number of years now, and we are only just reaching a level of medication that is working properly. I've been on this level for over 6 months, the blood test show the levels are about right now

Oh, I remember our tutor asking if any of us played the piano, he said it was advantageous when learning to type. Unfortunately, I don't play the piano beyond 'chopsticks'!

I am well known in Hootoo for spreading 'lilitis' - making everyone spell things incorrectly. Simply, I have a trapped nerve which makes my left hand weaker than the right, hence I will only skim keys with my left hand which will either omit the letter altogether, or make it turn up a keystroke later

Yes! Vicki Virago is my younger daughter and still posts here, occasionally. My other daughter, Virtuouschuffed, also has an account but she tends to 'lurk' these days

Also, I have known Paul H for a number of years. We used to meet up in silly threads all the time. Gnomon, now he is lovely man too. We have had the pleasure of his company in at least three Hull Meets. Such a gentleman!

As for PC connections, I'm sure there are plenty about on cruise ships although you may have to book a time to use them. Whatever you decide, I hope you and K will have an enjoyable Christmas
