Michael Marshall Smith - Author
Posted May 21, 2008
After a bit of delay and time spent doing other things, I've finally started work on a new entry today about Michael Marshall Smith. It's still in a fairly basic format at the moment as I can't get the Guide XML to work on this computer for some reason, but I hope to get formatting sorted out soon and then being adding additional information.

Rather slack

I have been rather tardy of late. Other entertainments have been keeping me busy of late leaving me little time for this (supposedly once daily) Journal. Oh well.
I have started collecting information for a Super Furry Animals entry as I notice there's no actual entry thus far written. It will even include some little known information about their early career if I can get some information checked out. Might even get written in the nexdt 6 months!
I really should do this more often.

So this morning I booked 2 tickets to see the Super Furry Animals in Liverpoool and then I get a phone call 2 hours later telling me I'd won the opportunity to see the band tomorrow night down in Cardiff at the barfly. Which is annoying and pleasant at the same time.

'The Straw Men' by Michael Marshall
I read all of Michael Marshall Smith's sci-fi stuff a couple of years ago and it's only recently that I found out that he was writing under a slightly different name, presumably aiming for the same the thing as Iain Banks/Iain M. Banks. A good read but I really prefer the ealier stuff, 'Only Forward' being the favourite.
'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind' by Chuck Barris
Interesting.
'Dagon and other short stories' by H. P. Lovecraft
Cost 25p. Which was nice.

Dissapointed

So I was wondering what Kevin Allen, director of the greatest Welsh film ever made, Twin Town was up to now after directing the The Big Tease back in 1999 and then doing not much else. Quick search of imdb provided the not at all pleasant answer. He's working on what appears to be a piece of cinematic genius going by the name of... 'Agent Cody Banks 2': Destination London'. I suppose if the money's good...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
