Castleing I think I understand, but can the king do it if it's been in check earlier in the game?
En Passent, eh?
oh, I'm about to put up a possibly working chess board

Castling. If the king has been checked
but not moved you can still castle.
This was invented in the 1500s to
help speed the game up and to help
balance the offense and defense.
En Passent.
If your enemy's pawn has moved 2 moves
forward onto the 5th line next to
your pawn you can take this pawn
only on the next move, by moving
your pawn forward and to the side
thats one sq behind the enemys pawn
on line 6.
Hope this helps.

Ok you know a pawn can start by moving two or one squares at the start, right.
Just say that by moving the two a pawn manages to avoid being taken by an opposing pawn if he had only moved the one square. Well for the next move of the opponent *only* he is able to take the pawn in the normal pawn-like manner, as if the pawn had moved only one. Once his turn has happened the option is gone.

Right, got it
Also, I've got the programme working now where it draws the board on a user page. Takes moves from players and updates it accordingly. I've just got to put in a user password system so only the players of that game can move those pieces and then it's ready to roll
An example of how it looks at the moment is off the Chess Player homepage that I've set up It will be tinkered to have better, and transparant, pictures though

Okay you lucky people I've got it working, fully. I think.
If you follow the link to Chess Player you'll arrive at the Chess homepage. When I've done that it will be obvious whgat to do to start up a new game. The way it works though, I need everyone who wants to play to register an interest and a password with me, so I can stick it into an array that the coding uses. All those who shown an interest in a forum have been stuck in, I just need a password from you. The easiest way to do this is, if you are on icq, to icq it to me. If not, email it to me on either [email protected] or [email protected] then I'll set it up.
