Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic. Posted Nov 27, 2002
I am making steady progress no the main story - there is only one major chuck of code that needs updating. so if i dedicate an afternoon or so to it, that shouldn't be too difficult.
I've reviewed what i've got and it's verging on completed but I still need to tweak several bits of it. and remove and spelling and grammatical errors (several of which i've spotted but which i couldn't bothered entering into the edit mode to fix then and there) and I'll do them all en masse in a bit once everything else is in place.
I've also been eyeing up roughly where I can make the breaks into chapters and think I can spot some natural point where the story can be paused for a week.
So things are not quite as dread as they might have been. I hope you're all looking forward to seeing this finally in print as much as I am!

I don't know why I ddn't think of this until just now.
I just copied the entire code over to wordpad and just "find/replaced" all the old style coding that needed to be removed with blank spaces. then did the same for all the remaining to be switched over to
it whizzed through the entire document for me!!
Well that one huge job jobbed.
*note to self: do that more often in future!*

Sounds good to me!
So - the question is: Do you want to run the prologue and cast list this week or wait for the birthday edition next week. Then we have 2 more editions before the Christmas break and start again in the New Year.

Hmm...tell you what then..let's air the prolouge and cast list in this weeks edition and start the story in the Birthday Special.
(very, very <cool.>
Seeing as Today's progress has removed for me the biggest obstacle i had to finishing I can devote attention to all the small things that would have come last. and get them done before next week.

Groovy.
oh and more computer woes. as of right now it is refusing to recognise it has a cd drive. both of them. (this is the sort of reticent stupidity of computers that *really* p***** me off. )
so it may very well be that it is dying again. and it will be back with the engineers before long.

Not a good sign at all I'll keep my fingers crossed that it isn't!
My hard drive died a couple of months ago after someone sneaked a virus past my security systems - not nice at all.

this doesn't appear to be a virus. (had it checked for that with the latest software. we've re-installed windows. we've even had the c drive re-formatted and wiped (so if it was a virus that would have got rid of it.) but it's just flat otu still going wrong.
mysterious and blummin' annoying.

I'll deliver the cast list to you in just one sec. only one thign to say it looks very nice.
however for the prolouge. Legion wrote the whole thing. I just coded it up from the plain text. so he should get main credit. there was no-one else.
I haven't done the credits on the main story time yet (one of the last minute jobs when everything else is settled - and there are plenty who help us out on that.) but the cast list FYI was mostly me this time with contributions from Legion.

OK... so I'll take you out of the credits for this week then? I've added this as 'The Prologue' to the archives for now.

Hullo. ooh it was good to see the first chapter appearing in the post yesterday!
anyway i just had a small question - do you think it would be a good idea to add links into the *old* storytime I archives as well? I mean the cast list aside - it just dawned on me yesterday that if you have no idea how they ended up in the hospital, it doesn't make a lot of sense. not that that is terribly dangerous given the subject mater but it was just a thought.
Clive.
