...I've been running around like a headless chook...with blood gushing down my torso and everything...

Yeah, a bit...I'm not good at "training" people, and I forget that most people can blunder their way through things on their own like I do !

the best way to learn is to jump in, unless it's swimming

I never really learnt how to swim, but I'm very good at staying afloat
