No, I look more like a 'falling down drunk'. I might put the camera on to give you all a good laugh - when the ground softens again that is.
Last night it was very murky, and mostly we could only see *eyes* dashing around in the dark. Very spooky when you can't see who the eyes belong to in the murk. Foxes, badgers and s could just about be seen in outline on some clips but little else. Thankfully no small furry varmints, though there was one the other night
The birds have been busy feeding again today. The thin layer of snow that came overnight has all but disappeared, followed by splashy rain. Heaven help us if it freezes tonight, and it certainly felt as if it might when I put the cam and food out
It will be so nice to get out in the garden properly, this winter has kept me penned in and I don't like it. I am not one for going out that much, I just like to have the choice

Damp and Cold
The video clips from last night look very misty but I haven't had time to look at them. Hopefully tomorrow. We are doing DIY stuff but the food and camera is still going out so perhaps tonight will bring better pictures.
The birds are feeding frantically still. I must get out tomorrow and fill the feeders up before they come knocking on the window
Busy weekend, but will come back as soon as possible.

At least two badgers polished off the contents of the big dish Last night (Sat 8th Jan) Haven't had time to view the video clips yet as I have been busy, and visiting. I will catch up tomorrow hopefully.
I topped up all the bird feeders this morning and they practically landed on me in their haste to feed. By the time I had finished my hands were really hurting from the cold and tonight looks to be similar.
They have had to have food thrown on the lawn tonight so will no doubt be miffed. No cam out either as I was too late in.

Nigel says they must wash their faces before they dine now, as they are arriving with dirty faces

Thanks Heleloo, good to hear from you again.
Monday 10th Jan 2011. Wet!
The badgers came and scoffed everything in the dish, except a few bits that the foxes and a rat managed to steal! It must have rained a fair bit as one badger gave himself/herself a good shake. The pictures are misty with the rapidly changing temperatures so there is not a lot to see at the moment. Hopefully it will clear soon. At least they are still coming.
The birds are very hungry and are here almost all day.
I will keep watching and report anything interesting but I think they are only creeping out because they know there is food there. Personally I would rather stay snug

Thank you Willem. I am struggling to keep tabs on everything at the moment. The badgers are coming and leaving a clean dish every night. I am managing to put the cam out so if anything interesting happens we will see it.
The birds are busy eating and fighting, though it has been miserable, grey and raining all day.

I should think you are Ivan, it is dreadful. I have been watching tonight, Brazil, Sri Lanka and Queensland, and somehow Queensland is more shocking because of the way it has covered the city.
I can't tell you how sorry I feel for all those people. Recent events in my life have brought it home to me just how much MY home means to me, so I feel their pain.
I hope you have no-one there who is directly affected? We heard on the news of a baby being safely born in Brisbane among the chaos.
It is dreadful what is happening to the wildlife and domestic animals too but that gets scarcely a mention.
Take care,

Thu.13th Jan 2011.
Weather: grey and dull but much milder.
I haven't had a chance to load last night's video clips as the cam battery was flat this morning and dI have only just got round to charging it up again, so it couldn't go out tonight.
My other cam is with my son to watch his badgers but he is tied up with infant daughter much of the time so I must ask for it back.
The birds are still emptying feeders and tables faster than I can refill.

Webbie, one of the side-effects of working for the Federal government and living in the purely artificial capital is that one meets people from all over Australia. I've come to know a lot of people from Toowoomba and Brisbane over the years. As far as I know they're all OK, but I could be wrong... I'll find out in due course.

then. It really looks dreadful. Only those on high ground seem to have escaped but it must be extremely difficult even for them.

Last night Fri.14th Jan. I was late putting out cam so threw food on the lawn instead of putting it in the dish. The foxes were delighted to find free food as they won't open the dish
The badgers seemed happy to forage too but of course the little furry varmint put in an appearance and nearly got caught by a badger, but he was too quick
I had five bullfinches today, and a male woodpecker in addition to the usual birds. I must get out and fill the feeders up again, they empty so fast.
Chat tomorrow.

Last night Sat. 15th Jan 2011
Weather: Wet and mild
At least three badgers came last night, though not together. The last one was huffy because there was no food left - well, it was 4.15am
The foxes were around a lot too. One or two have big bushy tails which I guess are males and there is at least one with a scrawny tail which I think is female. Hope she is ok, and just worn out from looking after cubs!
It has been wet and windy today but the birds have been feeding busily. I still haven't been able to refill the feeders. It was a to see a squirrel trying to access the Squirrel Beater feeder - his weight kept the ports closed and he couldn't understand it. It is the first time I have seen one attempt to get in it, they usually slide off!

Weather damp and mild
Last night was a bit of a disaster. The camera reset itself to 15sec. vid clips and the weather steamed the lens up So I got 81 clips of fuzzy badgers and foxes, and some clear clips of a little fat furry varmint who was playing Russian roulette with a badger Really I don't know why I feed the badgers and foxes, s too, when they don't do their job
Lots of bullfinches and long tailed tits, and the blackbirds and robins still haven't settled their differences yet
