Not a bad weekend at all, actually.....
Posted May 14, 2000
Friday:
Began the weekend with a light to medium lunchtime drinking session after my nightshift. Then unsuccessfully tried to haggle with a hot dog seller and lost the rest of the group. Still, it was about six in the evening - a good time to go home and sleep.
Saturday:
Arrived in Hyde Park around three, and then completely failed to locate the H2G2 gang despite quartering the area around the bandstand and scuttling about for 90 minutes. Eventually decided to head pub-wards at about half past five, and was nicely settled with a pint when everyone else got drenched.
Topped off a very pleasant evening by claiming my righful place as Pool God with a needless (but satisfying) bit of showboating against the editor.
Sunday:
Went to White Hart Lane and got the Sunderland fans to shut up for the first time in their lives. Noisy gits.
Sol Campbell, Campbell,
He's done his country proud,
So sing his name out loud,
Sol Campbell, Campbell....
Sol Campbell, Campbell.....

Where did it all go wrong?

Okay in reverse order (as in today backwards), the following disasters have occurred in the last week or two.
1) Last night, my PC rolled onto it's back and waved it's little legs in the air........(sob) all those saved games and cool wav files (sob).......
2) Spurs let in four goals in 11 minutes after Rob "Hey, why not play with 11 men, forget that red card" Harris got confused over a penalty.
3) The worst crime ever......managed to humiliate myself and embarrass someone important to me, and now the greatly reduced flow of email has a very frosty tone....
Can things possibly get any worse? I'm half-expecting to get home tonight and have some girl call me and say she's pregnant. Luckily (depending on your point of view), that's not too probable given my recent activities.......

On Saturday I turned up half an hour late for the return of one of the Lane's greatest sons. We were 2-1 down at the time, but by the end he had proved he was still a Spurs man through and through.
I mean, you can't put seven past any defence unless they're helping you, surely?

Aaaaah - nightshifts

They're what H2G2 was made for. 12 hours on shift, 12 minutes of work. Well, a few more than that I suppose.
But still time to wade through my inbox, clear up all my personal folders, explore those bookmarked web-pages that seem to accumulate in their dozens, catch up on all the fora and finally, post a journal entry or two.
Still, 3 minutes to six, the end is just about coming into view - and I'm off to plug a Lord into a wall-socket across the river.
