Doesn't everyone remove the wotsits from tomatoes?
Interesting fact for you, Terri: being non-placental mammals, marsupials don't have... you-knows. You might like to think about that next time you're viewing a kangaroo.

SEF thinks I've got that phobia, but I would argue that a phobia is an IRRATIONAL fear, whereas my desire to put my relatives in padded cells on the moon is a perfectly rational response.

Joey, Joey; I've been searching for you all my life.

And yes, indeed, all civilised folk remove the nasty bits from tomatoes. Mind you, i also remove egg white from eggs; every last scrap. Of course i don't have food obsessions or hang ups about birth processes.

And I thought I was weird.

Frogs, being amphibians and thus not even any sort of mammal, don't have "you-knows" either. I've just spent the early part of the afternoon fondling frogs, after first rescuing a couple from the cellar. I can scoop them gently out of the pond with one hand (though the largest, fattest frogs are about that size themselves!) and then have them sit on or walk over my hand for a bit while I look at them from most angles. They have lovely smooth tummies which come in a variety of colours and patterns - much as their backs do. No sign of any "you-knows".

It's National Novel Writing Month. Some of you writerly types might like to try this yourselves: http://snailrind.livejournal.com/52608.html

I am pondering over why SEF has a pond in his cellar. Each to his own i suppose. Round here they tend to keep in their cellars.
I am very pleased to hear that frogs don't have wotsits.
*Toddles off to look at journal, one of these days that site may let me log in...

Had a look at the bodice ripper! I do hope you are planning at least one sentence combining "milky white thighs" & "sinews". She's blushing nicely already; probably the mention of apertures & the close proximity of the stallion.

Glad you enjoyed!
Without a pond in your cellar, it's a whole lot harder to get frogs. You just got lucky.

Reckon you'll be signing up, Terri? I thought of you when I was doing it.

It's not much of a "pond" in the cellar. I dug a much better one for them outside. Which is where I then take them after they've realised the cellar wasn't such a great place to hide as they thought when they first leapt down there, and have sat around for a while waiting for their complementary ride to the better digs at the surface.

I'll think about it, but this month i am more in mode; i'm hoping to get a stand at the Christmas market & flog some unsuspecting frogs some crafty stuff.
Any ideas for quick & easy objets d'fart, preferably using free materials highly welcome!
Trouble is, the old scruples bit strikes, what the punters want is glittery baubles, i cringe & end up creating off the wall but tasteful things, which then get snaffled by viking "ooh, i like that!" "hands orf! It's to make money!" But i probably won't sell anything, so the little monkey will end up with them as
anyway!
I'd probably be much the same with writing, i could only do M& B type stuff if i sent it up so much, probably by making it squirmily filthily doubly entendrish that only weirdos would bother reading it.
Wan of zese daze i will sort out my half written novels, but not having Word to dump it on (& not trusting beast not to die again) tends to be a glorious excuse!
Thank you for thinking of me! I've been staring at your bones & thinking of you also. (that should get the buggers thinking!)

One nifty craft thing I've seen for sale is this.
INGREDIENTS:
A pile of old-style forks with long tines (those easily-tarnished ones, not stainless steel).
Marbles.
Dowelling rods or strong sticks.
Strong thread.
Pointy pliers.
Heatproof gloves or grippy pliers.
A hot flame.
METHOD:
1. Use the pliers and flame to bend the tines of the forks into interesting curly shapes. Wrap some of them around marbles, two tines each side. Allow to cool.
2. Tie threads of differing lengths to a rod / stick. Attach the other ends to the fork handles so that the tines are hanging downwards (sorry, I can't remember how this is done securely! You'll have to experiment).
3. Tie a loop of thread to the centre of the rods, for hanging.
Voila! A pretty, tinkly Uri Geller mobile.

The ones I've seen look like a small curtain of forks, thanks to the differing lengths of the threads. Very effective, I thought.
