You'd have thought they would have laid something on for you. Are there not enough people on duty? Is there something during the day? Do they cater for day staff?
We have two microwaves and one of my clerks brings in a soup and heats it up. Trouble is they are used by everyone and when you get so many peole from all over the world cooking their own country's food, it can get a bit whiffy.

I can imagine!
We dont have a canteen as such, altho thats what they laughingly call it All we have is vending machines with a selection of soggy sandwiches, pies and pasties and a couple of machines with chocolate and crisps etc - Oh! and we hve a toasted sandwich machine which had been out of order as long as I can remember
After 2.30am there's only 5 or 6 of us here so I suppose it wouldn't be economical to have a hot food service!!!

It appears as if everything is being done on the cheapo cheapo. Mind you a lotm of people have started going to the cafe over the road for breakfast as they say it's better and cheaper. I've not gone there, it's too far to leave the Transmission room for too long. Also I've often gotten a free breakfast, if you're lucky, they always seem to be arguing between the day and night staff down there.

Grub always tastes better if you haven't had to pay for it

Don't really like garlic. No I'm not a Like garlic bread, though. Thinking about going down to the canteen for breakfast, actually.

I love garlic but it's not very sociable
Can you go to eat when you feel like it then? We have set break times - it's a bit like being in school really

I'm the only one here, who knows when I come and go? As long as I do not miss a transmission, and the copying work is done, it doesn't matter. I often don't take a break, just sit here, make tea and watch TV if there's not much copying work to be done. I have just set the transmissions up until 07:44. So I can pop out without anyone knowing really. Just as long as nothing goes wrong while the transmissions are going out, risk you take. But I only pop down and return with breakfast, then take the plate back later.

Sorry should have added. Day shift work you have set times for when you go for meals, as indeed at weekends, but we usually sort it out between us at weekends.

That was a challenge to me. You must know by now I'm a sadist. How did you know I wear glasses?

There is a local Chinese restuarant that advertised all you can eat for £4.99. Cole - that's my girlfriend - and I took that as a challenge.
At school I was nicknamed Hank, yes I did say Hank, because everyone said I looked like Hank Marvin from the Shadows. I had these Black framed glasses rather like Buddy Holly, you know. It could have been worse, one person said I looked like Freddy Garity from Freddy and the Dreamers.
