Fraid I don't speak any Welsh
But my french is improving by the day
Where abouts in Essex did you use to live?
I'm an Essex girl born and bred though half the time you wouldn't realise it! My parents live just outside Colchester.
My bf used to live in Telford in the West Midlands, it's a nice area, bit industrial in areas but that brings in the work so you can enjoy places like the Wrekin (sp?).
I usually have limited access but since I am on my year out I have an internet connection I can use whenevr I'm not actually working!

I was born in Harold Wood, Romford way, but when I was 4 we moved to South Woodham Ferrers, near Chelmsford. Lived there til I was 15, so I'm an Essex girl too, but I know what you mean when you say people wouldn't guess. Do you find that people expect you to be an ignorant peroxide blond with a whiney voice, short skirt and fishnet stockings?! Heigh-ho for stereotypes, where would we be without them? Happier, I suspect. It's interesting with h2g2 because you never know really who you are talking to so you construct a mental image of them based on what you know about them and, more often, on what you assume about them!
I've got a friend who lives in Telford, but I've only really been there passing through on the train so I doubt that I see it at it's best. The Wrekin is gorgeous, a bunch of us from the sign language congregation went up there a couple of months ago and had a great time.
What are you doing with your year out? Is it a work placement for your course? I'm just about to start my second year, so my work placement will start next summer. I've got to start making contacts soon.
Merci beaucoup for repondreing, you are le premiere. I no longer feel ignored! See you around,
Cogs

Well if you speak to Argon0 he will still swear that I said I was blonde, he was a little suprised when I turned up at the meet with my natural brunetteness on full show I'm sure he had just assumed somewhere along the line that I was blonde! I would look awful as a blonde! It really wouldn't suit me!

catch you laterps what page was it you liked
Hello

Trillian is a chat client that allows you to log into MSN, AIM, IRC, ICQ and Yahoo! all at the same time. It's proving very unstable but seeing as I don't have admin rights and can't install MSN I'm having to make do!
I'm in Caen (the north west ish) which I have a funny feeling is a fair distance from the place you were talking about which I believe is in the south.
If I do get the chance to see I doubt it will be on Horse back as I have never been much of a rider only doing small treks with the scouts or once trying the horse of a friend when I was about 10!
The page I liked was the one about transparency needed in announcements from TPTB to the community!

During the time when the BBC was taking over h2g2 there was no access to the site and this caused much distress for many researchers.
In order that they could talk about it, discuss it, s**g it off more easily than saying 'the time during the BBC take over' they decided to give it a name, the community voted and 'Rupert' was chosen.
Now, during this time of uncertainty, while the Italics are discussing the future running of this site, many researchers are experienceing feelings that they last felt in the run up to Rupert. An 'oh no not again' type of thing which has lead to an unofficial naming of the 'Italics away time' as 'Petunia' after the bowl of petunias in THHGTTG.
Needless to say there are going to be many more debates before the actual name will be decided on, if it is given a name at all.
The debate between Amy and SEF is probably either as to whether the name should be Petunia, or whether it should be given a name at all.
I will also point out here that although many researchers are spouting on about impending doom, it is infact a load of rubbish. The BBC are just trying to make decisions as to how they can best run the DNA sites and since the h2g2 Italics are well established it is only to be expected that the BBC want to move them and their expertise to other areas. It will be a great loss to us since many of us have made friends within the current PTB but we all know that they will never leave the site fully and will simply fimd that they no longer have their hobby as a full time job
Hope this helps

cheers guesed as much, reading several posts not relateing to thread "on dna" i along with visiting pages of several of protaganists and conformists for want of better words ,along with going back in historic post's where i found link posted and attributed to me,i was just trying to remind everyone of aims of site, along with what i felt was likely outcome, rupert i would presume
to be "rupert bear" if its to be given a name i would be sugesting someone from george orwell such as "big brother" being rather apt or for those who need a alternative "rosebud" both names being relevent to aims and ambitions

Well for that I think we shall just have to wait and see.
Petunia has however got a large following now and as you came across it away from the name discussion I would say it has probably been adopted!
