Moving

Going to be moving today -- practically down the street from where I am now, I guess. I may lack a proper Internet connection for a while, so ... hold all my calls, for lack of a better warning. smiley - winkeye

Been here ages

Glancing over my message centre, I've noticed a couple threads left over from 2005 -- one birthday wish, a couple calls to arms for roleplay here and there ("here" being H2G2, "there" being elsewhere), and one which turned into an unofficial installment of Arfenhouse, which was yet another "something I was interested in and therefore threw it into my H2G2 adventures right and left without a moment's hesitation or consideration as to whether it was actually a good idea." Oh, and one from 2004, "Shag", which is in a class by itself because no one wanted to share it.

The Idea Which Stikes At Midnight

[Yar gets blearily out of bed in the middle of the night, walking to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water. As he pours himself a glass from the sink (which is connected to an unusual-looking filtration system), he looks thoughtful, as if something's just occurred to him. Nearly dropping it, he turns off the tap and sips from it, looking a great deal less bleary and a lot more thoughtful. A thought cloud appears above his head: first it contains some sort of sleek airplane design, then it shifts to two odd-looking machines hooked up together, and then, for no apparent reason, switches to what appear to be a set of arm and shin guards.]

[The next morning, some odd noises are heard from the vicinity of his basement, the current location of his mad scientist lab ...]

Okay ...

It appears that, in spite of being superior in almost every other respect (4 built-in USB ports instead of 2, slightly higher processing speed, about 1.7 times as much RAM, a more sensible sound system, a *funtioning* heatsink, other stuff that isn't broken), my new laptop is even *less*-suited for actual *gaming* than my previous laptop. Unfortunately, this is my primary interest in using a computer. In particular, several games crash altogether. (I can just hear Affy laughing when he sees this. smiley - winkeye)

So, I think I'm going to have to get the old one fixed somewhere. Bah ...

A New Laptop: I Has It

Yeah, my mom got a MacBook, so she gave me her old Toshiba laptop. Some things are fairly ... new and unusual, compared to my old Dell machine, but it's got close to twice as much RAM (about 960 MB), the processor seems a bit quicker, and the graphics card is an upgrade too. Ah well, it remains to be seen how much better it actually is...
