Summer has begun!
Posted Jun 11, 1999
So today was the last day of school for the summer. That's a good thing, right? Well, I'm not so sure about that. I mean, what am I going to do when I don't see all the people I usually see everyday for three whole months! Or possibly never again... If I don't go back to the same school next year then I'll never see them or talk to them ever again, and I didn't even say bye to most of them.... Oh well. One thing that really bugs me about the last day of school is the way people sit around and sign each other's yearbooks. It's like "let's have a bonding session and sit around in a cirlce and sign each other's yearbooks. You think we're sophmores and would have grown out of this by now, but truly we are just like little middleschoolers!" Grow up! I mean, getting a yearbook signed is a fine idea if someone's leaving, or you're graduating, or for various other reasons, but not just so you can say "I got 40 people to sign my yearbook" and they all write the same standard thing: To Whoever, Hey, the year's been great, have a nice summer! From, Someone-or-other. Geesh! I had a sum total of ten people sign my yearbook, and they are all close personal friends and I'm noy even going to be here next year. So I figure I had justification. I mean, in my civilized country down under, we do not have the insane practice of signing yearbooks. So that's my complaint of the day.
