Crappy Week
Posted Sep 30, 2002
Well, not all crappy - had an awesome trip wed-fri...went white-water paddling up at the Big River (which is, curiously enough, small) - just the most absolute best fun ever
Time for the annual mope....
Saturday was my brother's 18th - I'd told him I couldn't come cos I thought I'd still be on the trip, but I caught the 7:30 train down to surprise him - it worked beautifully...he was still getting over the shock an hour later! The only dampner on that is that my dad's loser partner has reappered...this person dad was *SO* happy to get rid of, so grateful to have security doors for etc...urgh. Anyway. Went to Dad's 50th that night - about 15 there who were all doctors/lawyers etc - a very snobby affair. I was basically the hired help, which was pretty upsetting...I'd been under the impression that I'd be helping out a bit but still able to join in, but oh no, it was be seen and not heard, and we'll have some more wine now thanks. Infuriating. It was such a w**k - seating arrangements and speeches and...urgh.
Got back to halls on Sunday to find my bike (my only form of transportation) had been stolen...my own stupid fault cos it wasn't locked up...the most annoying thing was mum saying that my grandfather could just buy me a new one - I don't WANT to run to him every time something goes wrong!
Had my orientation for my 'job' today - they haven't given me as many hours as I'd hoped, so it isn't going to be all that profitable, but then I s'pose money's money.
Dad offered to let me use one of his company's cars for the next year or two...I want to but I don't...it would be incredibly useful, but I'm sick of living off my parents and taking without giving - I feel like I should have to scrape and save for a dodgy car, not be handed a station wagon just because the sales rep is getting a new one. Hmmm. requires more thought.
Had to type up a resume for dad's idiot partner tonight - poor dumb beast can't do it alone.
That's enough moping....going to find happy thoughts now.

Have to update this then run off to multiple family things - arg!
Had an awesome week - they ran a scavenger hunt at the halls this week which was SO much fun...we went swimming in the fountain in the centre of town in broad daylight (all other teams did it in the middle of the night ) and then ran from the cops afterwards....we died the waterfall at uni green, we went skinny dipping at the YMCA, we have photos of us with the dean, us in a primary school classroom, on the plastic yellow horse from a saddle shop, in shop windows, near the top of a McDonalds sign (the big one...).....other people streaked through the dining hall, one guy changed his name to Prudence, we got a prescription for Viagra, got a lecturer to come to dinner, stole a shopping trolley and a keg.....it was awesome!!
Thursday night was the PJ party - we all went out to the clubby place in our PJs and ugg boots and moccos - a bloody good night!
So that was my week - how was yours?!

Crazy Koreans
Posted Jul 27, 2002
I finally found my Korean friend!!
We took her on a bit of a road trip, which was fun...got her on a paddle steamer and hoarse riding and down a mine and gold panning...obviuosly not all at the same time ...she also had the uniquely aussie experience of being leereed at by a drunken old man at the RSL
I'm going skiing this week!!!!
