21.10.2013 – Promotion Commotion

Yes, it's official – I've got it in writing – I've finally got that promotion at work I've been after. I won't say how many unsuccessful interviews I've had (I have been keeping score) , but at long last actually managed to pass one for a job that wasn't fixed term or maternity cover. It does mean that I have more work to do, and so less free time, but I do get extra holiday, so I suppose it balances out.

I've spent 2 weeks in Florida with the family (but no phone or internet access), just waiting for the flight home.

26.7.2013 - Give Thanks to The Tripods

After watching 'The Tripods', I have a strong urge to go on a long walking holiday with a couple of friends, stopping only to gaze at mundane objects with wonder, before pronouncing with reverence, 'Men made this'.

8.7.2013 - Here Comes the Sun

On Saturday we went to the beach, although my snorkelling was interrupted when I was almost hit by an icecream boat.
Yesterday I took my son back in time to the 1940s, only to see an old friend there as well as the son of the magician who used to do all the children's parties when I was growing up doing the Punch and Judy show.
