I can't believe this will mean I have to root for a Man Utd win tomorrow.
And Jack, good point about the classic. That reminds me, you know people say they study The Classics, well they don't, not really.
Also, we lasted at least two posts without mentioning football. A well done is in order I reckon.

Good point Mac.
I studied the classics at one point, Mac, and you're right. I read right through Herodotus and at no point did he mention ham and cheese.

Unless they were complete buffoons you can only hope it was encoded somehow so their rivals/enemies couldn't find out what they were gorging on.

Actually Mac, I'm pretty sure they were buffoons.
All of them.
The Peleponessian Wars were about nothing really. Certainly nothing as important as a classic.
Now, if one side had cornered the market in classics I could understand why there would be a war. But they hadn't.
Or at least, if they did, Herodotus doesn't mention it.

And I suppose if you were to make something as grand as that it is something you would want to boast about.
Like you say, a war to try and get the perfect recipe for it would make total sense. Idiots are timeless.

We will always have idiots amongst us Mac.
That's why we will always have wars for the wrong reason.

Exactly Mac. Tony Blair destroyed his reputation by starting a war about non-existent weapons when the sensible option was to attack Saddam Hussein over his snack policy.
Anyway, Gotta go.
Out into the rain.
Talk tomorrow.

What on earth is going on here - do some work for the afternoon and you are talking about Ancient Greece
How is everyone this morning - although Jack you probably need a canoe to get to work this morning

I would have been quicker in a canoe.
Got completely soaked yesterday on the way home.
And, as I have a site visit scheduled later, I drove in today instead of catching the train. Traffic was at a standstill at the best of times and to make things worse there were two accidents between home and office.
And still the rain falls.
I'm REALLY not looking forward to this site visit.

Can you not cancel the site visit seeing as 90% of Dublin is under water - so its fairly likely that where you are going will be cut off!
Then you can leave the car and go to the pub!

Sounds like a plan, PSD, but if I can make the site visit there's no way in hell I'm coming back to the office so going to the pub might be an option anyway.

Morning Mac.
You arrive just in time for me to say goodbye.
The weather's clearing a bit so the site meeting might be doable.
Bye for now.
