I think it's sweet that males feel that sense of superiority, misguided of course but i'm sure it's essential for their egos

Pooh is a stuffed bear. Kinda like a "Teddy Bear".
He is the priciple character of a Disney cartoon series, in which he is Christopher Robbins' best buddy(the only human in the animation)
The show depicts his(Poohs') adventures in the "40 Acre Wood", with Poohs' friends....Piglet, Eearr(sp.),Owl, Rabbit and Tigger.(many others I can't remember ATM)
It's actually a very enjoyable bit of animation!

acctually it's the 100 acer wood
so basically a "pooh" is another name for teddy

Tired brains make for curious answers!......I stand corrected, it *is* the "100 Acre Wood"!
Your definition of "Pooh" is quite correct, as well!

I say you chaps, who or what is "Disney"?
D'you mean "Disnae" which is a quaint mispronunciation common in Northern Britain (sometimes called Scotland) for "doesn't".
As in:
"What is the difference between Bing and Walt?
Bing sings and Walt Disnae."
But I digress.
Winnie the Pooh is the creation of one A. A. Milne, an author and poet, much of whose work was inspired by and dedicated to his son Christopher Robin Milne who spent most of his life trying not to draw attention to the fact.
Just thought you ought to know.

Very true. Nice to get the history lesson!
Disney picked it up, and made classic animation from it. The story must be there for the animation to work! Trouble is....around here, no one remembers the writer.....just Disney!

I read and enjoyed the books -long- before I ever heard of or saw any animated versions, much less Walt's.

}Animation can be good; animation can be bad. Everyone knows that Disney can make superb animation; everyone knows that Saturday Morning Catroons can make absurd animation. We all know that Saturday Morning Cartoons have rotten cartoon animation, but leave Saturday Morning Cartoons to also have rotten CG animation!{
}Japanese anime has that reputation; a prime example of this is the American version of Pokémon: The First Movie.{

"Japanamation" is known for being lousy....but, somehow entertaining!
Nice to "hear" a true fan of such lead that way!(I'm a true lover of Voltron)
As far as good animation(cellular), the prise either goes to Warner Brothers or Disney....depending on taste.
Disney *can* be more realistic, but Warner can make fantasy seem more real.
Don't discount Hanna/Barbera. Lately, they have done some wonderful stuff!!!

I shan't go on too much but I can't help but join in.
Disney is a triumph of style over substace. eg "Tarzan" was as beautiful a movie as you'll ever see but at it's core it was a very shallow film story-wise.
Manga and Japanimation has style and substance, but you have to go looking. "Akira", "Ghost In The Shell" and the latest historical fantasys are brilliant, but you've got to be into that sort of thing and have an interest in the style.
I certainly agree about the latest Hanna Barbera stuff - "Power Puff Girls" is hillarious! Great to see truly funny cartoons making a comeback!
But the absolute pinnacle lately has to be 'The Iron Giant' by Warners. Couldn't love it more. Story, style, morals that have you nodding your head for a change - AND NO SINGING! Yay!
That's my two bob's worth. Get off soap box now. Hope you don't mind
