My coffee is cold
Posted Oct 6, 2000
Homepage sorted. I think it's readable to both skin users. I cannot be arsed to check.
Just realised I can probably get LView to work on this system without having to worry about the 60-day trial time on something that's wiped after each user logs out. Excellent.
Does anyone know how to subvert the default link colours in this thing? 'Twould negate the need for a background colour that copes with both skins. I could experiment with sticking them in all the different table tags but this would delay my current plan to accede to a pressing bodily requirement before heading off to a shop to buy some gloves for the coming cold season.

Still no time
Posted Mar 15, 2000
No time to write more entries, update the homepage, shift all the files this page calls off Geocities (who are getting tetchy about offsite requests, put some more crosswords up at http://www.angelfire.com/az2/bloatingfish/cross1.html , tidy my stuff up ready for moving, get back into sub-editing, go swimming, sit on top of a hill watching the sun set, find out how much Sea Kelp costs from the herbalist and whatever else it is I've forgotten I was going to try and do.
In the meantime, job is easy though time-consuming and less financially rewarding than it should be considering the amount of people over whom I am asked to watch. Band website is meeting with interest. Days are lengthening and getting up at 05:30 is nowhere near as hard as I would like to make it out to be to people that wake later. Still got to sort out the early-to-bed half of it, though.
More later. Food to be eaten and newspapers to be taken to the recycling bin after their holiday all over my floor.

Been a long time
Posted Feb 26, 2000
Is it really that long since I was last here? I really need to get a net connection in the comfort of my own home. To do that I'll need a PC. Anyone got one spare? I've also been off the sub-editing since I started my new job and am beginning to feel as if I don't know this place anymore. Whilst it's bad that people are getting suspended (QV Stragbasher) there's a vast amount of really intelligent discussion taking place. Maybe it's just that I've been missing it; in the beginning it seemed more like playful banter than serious discourse. I plan to develop a thing that will give each user a 'voice' and read out the forums as a vocal discussion. Written down, such lengthy exchanges still seem a little too long to me (the scroll button is always such a tiny fraction of the scrollbar length) but are still only a few minutes' worth of actual speech. I'll put this on the list for 'things to do', just after 'clear my overdraft', 'stop biting my nails', 'develop a clean, replenishable fuel' and 'see Gomez play live'.
Besides not actually visiting the site and discussing, I've been neglecting to write up about the few places I've managed to visit during my time away. I've managed to make a few notes that I can still use, thoug it wasn't wasy. Some of my mates seem really disturbed at the thought of my bringing out a small, discreet notebook in a pub or restaurant. One thing for certain: no way would I go into the toilets of a pub carrying a notebook. Even if people only thought I planned to document the size, texture, colour and buoyancy of my stools it would be too shameful. Soon, though, I shall have information concerning the various lasagne available in central Edinburgh, Iguanawana in Inverness, Portree Independent Hostel, the Buffalo Grill, the quality of boring speech offered by Edinburgh University graduation ceremonies, a couple of pubs in Ayr, a few more pubs in Edinburgh and the exceptional quality of customer care offered by the One2One teleregistration team based at Gorgie Road in Edinburgh. If anyone reading this has recently registered a One2One mobile (or plans to at some time in the future), spare a thought for us.
I'll have to go again, now. My net access is limited, but I have managed to set up a new site. It's empty at the moment, but I;ve got the hang of the content-over-style philosophy and shall (definitely. Really) get something up there. It goes without saying that I've got more stuff up here that I shall have there, though. Anyway. http://www.angelfire.com/az2/bloatingfish if you're interested. Give it until the beginning of march or you'll find nothing but links elsewhere. Also, my band now appears at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/featuringsomethinggood.html though I can't promise that the MP3s will work. Try them anyway. Good luck and so forth in all that you do until I can next scrape together the time to come here. Hopefully it will be with something useful in the spirit of the site to upload. Cheerybye.

Darn it all
Posted Jan 18, 2000
Grrr. Finally get a job (which is easy and good), some money (overdraft is slowly disappearing), some free time (to do more guitar, h2g2 and furniture-building) and the university notice that I've graduated and remove my computer access. Swine. I can sneak in to print out CVs but little else. I shall thus be here less than I was in the early days and can't sub-edit until I can afford access by other means. I could do with using what money I do earn to move out of the flat threatened with council tax during my continued presence so can't really justify finding a nice cybercafé in which to loaf. See you all later.

Hahaha. A sub-edited entry has just appeared at the bottom of the screen. Cool. I hope the originators are happy. Maybe they can tell me when they see it. That would be nice.
