Off to Court
Posted Nov 15, 2000
Well, after working a ten hour night shift. I get an hour break, and now I'm off to an Administrative License Suspension Hearing. This guy couldn't stand up, and he expects to keep his drivers license.
I'll be lucky to make it home after the hearing without running off of the road myself.
Police work is fun. Police work is fun. Police work is fun. If I say this long enough I can justify working for $30,000 a year.

Election 2000
Posted Nov 9, 2000
It was a heck of a night.
I work nights. When I went in, Florida was being given to Gore, and I figured it was probably all over. I had hope, but not a lot. Then when I came out of roll call, they were saying that Florida was too close to call. The electoral votes kept adding up, and it was getting tighter and tighter.
Then at 2:20 AM, I got in my car, and I heard someone reporting from Texas. There was a crowd going crazy in the background. It took a few minutes to actually hear that Bush was being declared the winner in Florida.
As the hours wore on, we all waited for a victory and concession speech. Then they said Florida was too close to call again!
It was something to live through. I was glad I worked so that I could listen to the reporting on this historic election. The last I heard was that some 40% of the Florida precincts have been recounted, and Gore has picked up 8 votes.
I've said for some time, that I favor the abolishment of the Electoral College. Ever since Clinton's elections divided this nation so severely, I have wanted to change to a popular vote, where we would have runoffs until one candidate had a majority. I think we need one candidate who has a majority of the voting population voting for him.

Being the police

Being the police is fun!
Nothing really special happened. I think I'm just punchy from being awake for over 24 hours. 18 hour days are fun!

The First Step is Admitting that You Have a Problem

I never really understood the appeal of the solitaire game they included with Windows. I always thought it was kind of silly waste of time.
Well, now I've become addicted. I started playing while I was waiting for my computer to do other things, like load web pages and download music. Now I find myself considering the logic of the game. I'm starting to wonder if there are philosophical implications in solitaire that can be applied to the world as a whole.
Help!!
