"Carpet Crawlers" is perfect, Sho. Or "Solsbury Hill". That was something of a theme song for me. Whenever my friends hear that song, they think of me.

I am using my othe skin to answer this
Yes the two skins are available by updating your details and clicking alibaster or goo - I am from the old school and prefer the goo. when in alibaster you get back to goo by clicking on preferences.
Yeh it is "Takes my breath away"
A new update is going to be launched in the next week or so - a lot of new gismo's - including the option to go straight to the end of the forum and reading the last message. It'll be quicker to answer threads.
I am going over to the new version to have a look around later. I'll let you know what it is like.

Oh great Vegiman font of all h2g2 knowledge (creepy enough for ya )
Do you know if there would be any reason why my old decrepti computer at home doesn't load h2g2? could my netscape version be way to old (plus I have to use Windows 3.11)?
I prefer the goo too, but do you think it possible that sites in the alabaster skin (the name is nicer than the look IMHO) loads faster?
Hi vegiman:-)
alicat (Patron Saint of Good Taste) Posted Jul 4, 2000
I changed over to the alabaster for a minute, then returned promptly to the classic goo. I prefer it, too.

Solsbury Hill. Hm. I like that one a lot. When it came out I always thought he was on about Salisbury (in UK - near Stonehenge) and couldn't work out why he could "see those city lights" - since it is in the middle of nowhere. Ah. Innocence of youth.

Sho that's an incredible coincidence i was born in Salisbury near Stonehenge and I always thought he meant Salisbury hill except there is,nt one, the nearest is Harnham Hill on the edge of Salisbury which was very near where i lived as a kid.

Hi everybody - thanks for dropping by - all of you. - Just popped back in to say I have been over and had a look at the new programming for this site - it looks good. You will be able to choose if you want to see all the thread (in stages as you do now, or click onto a link which will show you just the last batch of postings.
There is a spacestation type link on the forums which will take you to differnt parts of the thread.
You will no longer have to submit an article to to guide it will be done by peer selection. In otherwords the more people who visit your page and comment on it - the quicker it will be looked at by h2g2.
Lots more but not enough time to explain at the mo.
Shoo - I dont know what your probs are, but on slow comps and old versions of explorer - you will miss out on some things.
I Like my music - you can always switch it off by clicking on a link.
Sorry if I have not answee you all - gotta rush now
Thanks for the comments on the hypnosis article. That thread was interesting.

Hi veg,
So you're the genius behind all the smiley faces and fish!
I like the music too.
Just stopped by to say hi. I'll keep checking your homepage everyday.

No the genius is Jim Lynn - I am just a reasearcher like yourself but I have been around a bit longer and have got to know the team at h2g2, so, I along with others in the ace team and sub editors, get a little info in advance.
catcha soon - I'll see if I can get a little done on the page over the weekend - no promises cos its really busy IRLife.

i meant no offense about the music, but in my highly regarded opinion, frankly its annoying.

Hi vegiman
This tune must rate fairly highly on my list of Annoying Songs which I have, at some time in my life, been able to stop singing! Having said that, it is somehow very appropriate to how I feel at the moment.
I have only just got on line at home and joined h2g2 within 12 hours (I am still listed as a newcomer) and last night I began to type the first thing that I want to contribute.
It was meant to be a short incitement to other researchers to contribute their opinions about the best festival they have ever intended. It developed from that via a possible Home Page piece into a giant, and I mean GIANT, personal reminiscence about my favourite (WOMAD in case you are curious).
I have typed it in Microsoft Word at the moment and an ACE who is a very close personal friend (could be no closer) suggested that I get in touch with you for some advice about what to do with it when he kindly came round at 1.00 am this morning and read it in it's current raw, unfinished and un-edited state.
Any help welcomed
The Nitpicker

Hi Tyrant of SOL. No offence taken on the music - I kinda like this one but it one of those pieces you either like or hate - I think I will change it - just for the fun of it soon.
Hey Fenny, nice of you to drop by - Long Time. How is the Mayor getting on these days?
Nitpicker - I'll pop over and have a look and get back to you.
I am resurrecting the The Critique Fun Run and may include your article in it, if thats OK with you.
For those who have not been around that long - The Fun Run is where a number of pages are put up for others to review. Bruce has just updated some coding for it - Thanks Bruce.
Last but not least my little Ali - thanks for popping that feline head in to my forum again.

Hi vegiman
That music is better and again it fits with how I feel! tried to email you twice and keep getting that stupid message from the Mail Delivery System sending it back to me. Something is wrong! Hre is the same message copied across!
Dear Vegiman
Hope you don't mind me emailing but it seems simpler and more likely that it will get your attention post haste (and also, as The Nitpicker likes best, it spell checks everything I write). Thanks for your reply - androyd told me you would offer suggestions. Currently my tome is totally unsuitable for h2g2 as it comes in large blocks of text. Androyd suggested that I try to model it on Don't Panic but the very thought of getting to grips with enough GuideML fills me with absolute terror. He also suggested Bruce (?) could help but I feel that I do need to make some effort before I contact him. The sheer size of my masterpiece (!) precludes emailing it - tfi would definitely time me out before it got through!
Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.
Incidentally, are you a vegetarian or just a sheep in wolf's clothing? I have been for about 20 years now due to my distaste for the effects of the hormones pumped in to animals to turn them into flesh growing machines and I am consequently very relieved to be safe (if one ever can be) from such things as mad cow disease etc.
Regards
The Nitpicker
