More policy changes...

Got word from the owner at work that our prices were going up....tomorrow!!! No one knew, except for the managers; they didn't tell anyone. So I had to spend 2 hrs on a very busy day noting the appropriate charges in each request for service through the end of October. Mind-numbing. This is the kind of thing that they should have sent a memo about a week ago or something. Our service charge is going up from $32.50 to $49.50. A big jump, but since fuel prices are what they are (yes, I'm a whiny American), we have to increase prices. Plus we're figuring that this will cut out a few of the people that are just browsing through the phone book, picking out names. We have way too much business (the boss obviously doesn't think so though). We took more calls than we could possibly do, but because of the ridiculous "same day service guarantee" we had to keep on taking them until noon.

grrrr....

I got all worked up for a weekly appointment that I have (had to cancel last week because of bronchitis) and after waiting for 35 minutes, found out that the person got the messages mixed up and thought that I had cancelled for 2 weeks. Also we are in the process of undergoing massive policy restructuring at work and who do they choose to do the job of training the new folks and retraining the experienced folks? Not a manager, but the person with the least tact in the company. She's already wielding the power like a sword. Honestly, instead of handing out the policy, explaining it and asking if there are any questions (I've seen it, it's not that complex), she's telling people not to implement it until she personally goes over it with you and QUIZZES you on it. She SAID that, verbatim!
I guess I shouldn't gripe too much since it's a job I really wouldn't want, but it just shows some poor judgement on administrations part. Even the managers are unhappy with the decision. Esp since one of them was sent to a 10 day inservice on it and its optimal implementation

More silly hours

It's 0920 my time and I've been up since around 0930 yesterday. Hooray for almost 24 hrs awake!!! I'm going a bit bleary and loony as I'm not as young as I once was. Everyone in the house is asleep except for the little cat and me. It's Labor Day (federal holiday) so no one has to go to work today. I just need to try and get the grocery shopping done. Some of it anyway.

Shawn went to the BugOut yesterday with someone from work and had a great time. Came back talking about Brubaker Boxes, Ghias, Split Windows and Westies (no VW jargon at all, hunh!).

Decided not to go to that crab feast after all. I couldn't think of one person out of the couple of hundred that would be there with whom I really wanted to spend any time.

Must get sleep!

What a ridiculous hour

I'm still on the puter after being up since 0500 EST. Work was difficult since today was one of the busiest of the year (we're closed the next 2 days) and we were short staffed. Hard to tell people it might take in excess of 15 hrs to get service. Thank goodness I didn't have to close! I really need to focus on job hunting. Nearly 2 yrs of underemployment is wearing thin, but I have to be a grownup and focus on bennies and stability. Need to move away from some of the roomates, so job stability is an issue, but so is making enough $$ to pay for the frickin place. WAAAHHH!

Enough of the gripes, just got the car fixed, major plus. Won a DVD from one of my silly sweepstakes (now all I need is a DVD player)! I was also invited to an end of the summer crab feast (I probably won't go mind you, but it's the thought that counts!). Shawn will be going to the BugOut (a VW enthusiasts dream) today and it will be fun to listen to him talk about it. We both got elected to the Board of Directors of the Logical Language Group, Inc. at the annual meeting this summer, due to our overwhelming ability to motivate (nag) the group's president into making sure things get done. This will be a nice addition to the old CV and also will keep me focused on things other than the job and roommate situation.
