List of support entries to subscribe to
OwlofDoom Started conversation May 20, 2003
Any chance we can have a list (here or somewhere else) of all the entries U295 is subscribed to, so gurus like myself (who keep procrastinating about supporting users) can subscribe to them all and then be forced to help people?
It would be particularly helpful if we could have links of the form <./>FSB615?cmd=subscribeforum</.> for subscribing to them from that page too.
Just a thought...

Subscribe to everything on <./>NamedEntries</.> and then keep an eye on U295 for a while to see what you're missing.

I might just do that. Not going to subscribe to <./>Askh2g2</.> though... you're not catching me out.

What's wrong with subscribing to high volume pages? After all, I'm subscribed to PeerReview...

Yes, subscribe to all of the named pages. Subscribing to U295 is pretty much useless as the conversations disappear as soon as someone appears to help on them. The trouble with that is that subsiquent questions on the thread tend to get missed.
Of course I can see *why* the unsubscribe happens fast. You'd end up with a bloated conversations list just like mine

As long as the Gurus who have answered in the thread remain subscribed there should be no problem. Any additional questions they can't handle can be relayed to the Yahoo group.

True, but you're relying on the Gurus to be as sloppy as me at unsubscribing from anything. Plus, I don't have access to the Yahoo groups at all times. My employer takes a dim view of message board type sites - except one beginning with the immortal three little letter 'bbc'

I stumbled over F19585?thread=165731 half an hour ago. You've got even more conversations now, GD?

I rarely unsubcribe from any Guruing thread unless it has become a slanging match or degenerated into a smiley-fest.
If anything really difficult turns up the rest of us will do our best to hold the fort until you get home, GreyDesk .

*waves* Hi all
Hi Owl
The space of this name is subscribed to loads of 'Guru' pages, if it's any use to you, you could subscribe to it.
I've subscribed to all the pages listed there, happy to add more if need be. If you want to use it, your welcome.
Emmily

Subscribing to a user doesn't automatically subscribe you to everything they're subscribed to (!) ... if I subscribed to U295 I'd just get the messages that appear in _this_ forum...

I know you knew really...
I too have a link... actually, I have two... one pops up U295's messages in a My Conversations window.

Three links, I spy on Rho too, a good way to find interesting PR entries. But now I have plans for a super conversations list driven using some CGI to magically parse the HTML and pull them all together (HTML::TreeBuilder is useful...). that's a bit technical .
But anyways, I have three links

ok, ok I've just re-read your original post Owl, I misunderstood what you meant. Isn't it nice to know, somethings never change
Hadn't 'bumped' into you for ages, just wanted an excuse to say 'Hi'
You have given me an idea as to how to 'improve' my 2nd Home, I won't dig my hole any deeper, by going into detail though.

Heh I have been lurking a lot these past few weeks... just got married on Saturday!
I'm now catching up with my backlog of sub-editing *cough*. I've had this batch for over 5 weeks now. Oops!

Thanks!
It's not why I changed my name though... that's temporary, and something to do with Hoovooloo, Spook and Tango being *cough* immature brats. It'll be back to normal soon enough.
