Zork who?
Afgncaap5 Posted Jan 23, 2000
First of all, I can't wait for the new game. Second of all, you made the fatal mistake of playing Zork Nemesis first. ZNem is considered by many to be the worst Zork game because of the very reasons you stated. Also, the first graphical Zork game was Return To Zork. Anyway, I'm sorry if ZNem was the first you played, because it can really leave a bad taste in the mouth of adventurers. I recommend playing the Zork Trilogy, Zork Grand Inquisitor, and Beyond Zork. Zork Grand Inquisitor is actually newer than Riven, and I think that these games make a tad more since. However, I am a tad biased as Zork was my first adventure game. However, please play a few more Zork games before you judge it.

my two cents:
Zork grand inquesitor is a wonder full game, using relitivly new tech for an easy interface a storey with a heavy touch of humor and just enugh nastalgia to the text games to provide really cool cuntunity,

You know, you support the basic opinion of nearly everyone at The Zork Library. I don't think the game was good, but the storyline *almost* made up for it. It was kind of like a scavenger hunt. You know, "Click the screen absolutely everywhere with everything. If you die, try it again." Meanwhile, I might have played that game, but I don't recall it. What's it like?

Erm...which game do you want to know about? Hey! Anyone accidently misstyped the h2g2 URL? For some reason I pressed "S's" instead of the "2's" and got somewhere rather different...(and no, it's not worth trying, really! Unless you want to become a window cleaner...)

That Apple G Game. I've never heard about it before. BTW, anything interesting about window cleaning on that sight?

Probably not...it's just some glass suppliers. (www.hsgs.com). But! On the subject of games, who's played DNA's Starship Titanic? I've ordered it from Gameplay (www.gameplay.com) but it's out of stock at the moment so I probably will never recieve it...

I made the mistake of not buying it the day I saw it at the store. There were about twenty copies, so I said, "Hey, it'll still be in stock next time." What a fool I was . . .

How long after did you return to the shop?
The Elusive Starship Titanic
Afgncaap5 Posted Jan 30, 2000
A week. (SOB) I can't seem to find it anywhere, now!

Blue Sky Posted Jan 31, 2000
If you're in the UK (or even if you're not!) you could buy it from Gameplay...(www.gameplay.com, I believe - I'll check it in a sec)and it should come up from useing their search engine. Be warned - I'm still waiting for them to get a new stock in...if that happens, but they do have a DVD version for £32 or around that. The normal CD-Rom version is only £23 with free postage and packing within UK Mainland, and with something like £5 for the rest of Europe or something; can't remember what it is for the USA...

Probably a tad more pricy. What's the current exchange rate for pounds and dollars? BTW, thanks for the info.

Blue Sky Posted Feb 1, 2000
Isn't it 1.6 somethings to the other? Wait - every pound is about 1.6 (I believe at the moment) dollers, so £23 would be a little over $30 I suppose...not that bad, I believe...

Okay. I was prepared to pay a lot more, and that price, while still being slightly over what I consider the usual fare, plus shipping and handling across the seas . . . Well, we're looking at a maximum of seventy dollars, depending on how fast I want to get it. Thanks! Now, let's find something else to talk about so that this forum still gets people to talk on it!
What was the topic?
Blue Sky Posted Feb 2, 2000
Ah, yes. The Film.
Well - it WOULD be nice to have the original radio cast members, but what I seemed to think was that they were better acting using their voice than on the TV. And if they couldn't get the original FOrd ot Trillian for the TV series then who says they'll be able to get them to do a movie? Oh - and didn't I hear that Mark Wing-Davey was doing Directing or something on the stage now?
Ah, yes, we were talking about casting. Or Leo DiCaprio.
Afgncaap5 Posted Feb 2, 2000
I don't know a thing about that. I haven't gone to the Douglas Adams website for about two months now, so you probably know a lot more about it than I do. However, a good choice for either Arthur or Ford would be that guy from Notting Hill. You know . . . that guy . . . never mind.
Nottinwho?
Blue Sky Posted Feb 3, 2000
Sorry, I've never been to the Douglas Adams website or seen Notting Hill so I'm two points down...but if you think he'll be good then I have all the faith in you. So - when are you going to sign up his contract for it, then?
Nottinwho?
Afgncaap5 Posted Feb 4, 2000
As soon as DNA gives me the job of completely managing all of his companies for him, reviewing all of the stuff he writes before he publishes it, etc. Then, I might call the Notting Hill guy. But until then, what should we do about the movie? Is there anything we can do other than talking about it? No? Okay . . .
The Waiting Game...
Blue Sky Posted Feb 5, 2000
Yes, we can't do ANYTHING about the movie, so I suppose we just wait and speculate. Or just wait. Wait. Still waiting. No - let's just totally forget about it and then it'll be a nice surprise when it comes out, eh?
I loose.
Afgncaap5 Posted Feb 5, 2000
Well, I won't be surprised. I heard about the movie about a year ago, and, taking into acount the procrastination that he is so infamous for, I give it . . . around three years before we here any really good news about the film. I mean, when he made the game for Infocom, Steve Meretzky had to go camp out on DNA's front lawn before much progress was made. We may be in for a long wait indeed . . .
I loose.
Blue Sky Posted Feb 6, 2000
Well, at least we can look forward to the new book! Erm...yes. Well, I'll just sit down here in the corner, shall I? Twiddle my thumbs? The first million years will be the worst. The second million years will be the worst too. After that I'll go into a sort of decline...
