Just a question!!

Could I please ask a question to Abi, im tracking down as many female members of the h2g2 community trying to find an answer to a question. It started of as a niceguy/jerk debate we had on the community over the weekend. The debate does not matter, only the question that has arisen from it. Abi I assume that you are a woman could you please answer me this question. Dont take it personally and dont view it as a gender bashing thing. Its to try and get ideas straight..

QUESTION

" women prefer men to view them not for how they look like or how attractive they (ie initial sexual chemistry) or but for their personalities and values. However many men feel that they are being turned down and rejected for the same reason - sexual chemistry,( which for women is not just looks, but confidence, finacial allure and loyalty) but not usually for the mans qualities themselves.

Why should men not always go for initial sexual chemistry if women are not prepared to do the same?"

please do not take this personally, as you are not the only one being asked this question.

Thankyou Ford

Oh I agree... women are shockers when it comes to dismissing men for the most trivial of reasons. So are men. Definitely a case of "Do as I say rather then as I do".

Thanks. But as to the question itself: should men bother 'trying' if most women dont. It seems from the discussion that we had that nicer men get overlooked over jerks simply because they dont give out initila sexual chemistry even though some of them are the ones that are trying to treat women for who they are. I know this will probably get you back up (actually your reply was one of the nicest, others have verged on the unprintable) But in reality just a word will do.

Should men bother reforming yes or no.

Once gain many thanks.

Abi

Yes you should.

Why? Because, put simply, women are better at going without a bit of how's your father then men are smiley - winkeye

mmmmm. Its hardly fair though... I mean the men that try get no 'preferential treatment' over the the men that make absolutly no effort to reform their ways. I mean what women are doing essentially in a sense is telling men to not use initilal chemistry to judge them as a sexual partner, and when men try to make an effort and tone down their sexuality they get labled as a "you're a nice guy, but lets just stay friends". Its hardly fair or even appealing for a man is it?

Abi

No its not.

To be fair it took me 5 years to realise that I fancied my boyfriend, just because on first impressions, he wasn't what I thought I wanted. I am truly grateful he isn't as shallow as me.

Exactly, how would men feel if every time they opened a tabloid there was a well hung young man making them feel inadequate?

(Gosh i am really lowering the tone here! Help me EV!)
