I've just finished in online class so popped in for five minutes.

hows it going with the open ?

I'll bet you'll need a extra hard drive for all the stuff you'll accumulate

A lot of it is kept in online storage facility so it's not too bad. Have to upload some software from dvd's etc but actual data is kept safe. Goes without saying though, belts and braces I keep my own backups just in case. Its going ok, Some bits easier than others but scored well in my first tutor marked assignment of this second year.

will it cover programming and building of PC's as well

initially it's programming and networking but will do a bit on pc building as the course progress's. The overall aim is for programming in various formats though.

Well Win7 seems to be doing ok so far, no real bugs as such but I always wait minimum 6mths before I contemplate any upgrades just in case. It appears to be what Vista should have been but that's typical MS. Takes them 2 attempts every time to get it right.
Out of all of them XP was the best I reckon.

it's supposed to be a bit of both I think ? but I'm happy with XP for the foreseeable future

they've extended the update stuff for XP due to corprate clients sticking with it though don't know how long for.
