Ah, hang on then, there's been stuff you've sent me that won't play in WM as the 'format' in the sent file is, to say the least, oddball and needed a specific type media player.
Windows media player plays a lot of formats but there are a few around it won't play.

she can do apple quicktime, but I don't know how to convert a WMP video thing to save/send as quicktime ?.I can open one by clicking "open with" but not how to save it in that particular format

I have WMP as main, then quicktime and real player on my PC

Hi Prof, been following it. The only other option is VM Cable, bypasses all BT stuff.
Apparently in order to get BT's 20mb they're currently pushing, you need a 'booster box' fitted adjacent to the main phone socket. My Bro's just gone with them and even with said box he's only averaging 3 to 5 meg of the 'upto' 20meg promised.
My VM package is 10mb and after they sorted the 'box' in the road I'm averaging 7.5 to 9 mb. Much improved from the 3 to 5 I was getting.

Oh great, if the next op gives same result I'll be more than chuffed. I'll need reading glasses but distance will be bloody great again.
Just popped in as was online in my OU Forum sorting some assignment work.

me mam had hers done last year and once the new glasses etc

Its just amazing how simple a procedure it's become. My father had it done in 1971, he was in hospital for 2 weeks, I'll spare the gory details but suffice to say it wasn't a pleasant experience and it was months before he saw any benefit.
My op took 21 minutes from start to finish. I was back home in 2 hours.

we were baffled at the start, because they told mam, her eyes had to get worse before they'd do them, then it clickedthey could have missed a little that hadn't manifested fully otherwise

Well mine developed so quickly they wasted no time. The left eye went totally blind in the space of 6 - 8 weeks, the right is down to less than 50%. No idea yet as to what triggered it, if anything.
I have to get an eye test next wk and take the prescription to the hospital on the 9th. They use it then to match the lens for the right eye to the left. All clever stuff.

cataracts can come with anything I think and age is no barrier to getting them

yup, all being well I'll get whatever glasses are needed in early January and that'll be that.
