Second Eye Operation Booked
BMT Started conversation Nov 10, 2009
I went for the follow up appointment today at the eye hospital. All has gone extremely well, left eye is healing nicely, vision is excellent for distance. There is no doubt I will need reading glasses when the right eye is done. I now have the date for that operation, it will happen on Weds 9th December. I have to be at the hospital for 08.15am.
Prior to attending for the second op. I need to have an eye test at my opticians approx 2 weeks from now. By then I will have finished with the current eye drops and I need to obtain a prescription, (but NOT the glasses), from the eye test and take it with me on the day of the op. Apparently they use this to match the replacement lens for the right eye to that of the left eye. All clever stuff tha knows.
Tis grand reading text on TV without using the binoculars though.

Hi Bel, it's staggering the difference after just the one op. If the second is as good then I'll be more than chuffed, don't mind having to have reading glasses.

ST - and don't mind the reading glasses, they are a sign for wisdom (like Bel I have to take my glasses off to read, but one day it will be reading glasses as well....)

I am so very pleased to know that all is progressing well. It must be wonderful to be able to see better. with the next stage.
My optician told me I needed a pair of glasses for distance, another for reading and one for the computer, yet my eyesight is still pretty good. I managed to cut it down to two pairs, bifocals and a pair for the computer.
One thought, are people better looking now, or worse Blurry vision might have had its compensations
Take care,

Well, had the eye test in readiness for the second op next weds. The optician expressed some surprise at the deterioration in the right eye in just 4weeks. You may recall at the time of the op on the left eye, the right was deemed to be still ok with 90% vision. Now it's down to less than 40%.
He has confirmed I'll definitely need reading glasses but should be ok for distance when the right eye is done.
Roll on next weds.

Well; the good thing is, having had the first eye done, you know what to expect with 2nd op. I've needed reading/computer glasses for years, didn't help that i managed to stab myself in the eye with a screwdriver many years back (Yeah, i know, you wouldn't think that possible, but i managed it!)
I reckon most folk 'après une certain age' need glasses & i often don't even notice if they wear them or not.
with the op. Are they doing it by laser? I'm told that's much faster & less uncomfortable.
Just think of the fun you'll have reading your Christmas cards without any problems!

I seem to recall reading something about eyes over-compensating for the other lesser performing eye, but it's a sketchy memory.
